Monks, these four are the noble truths. What are the four? The noble truth of suffering, the origin of suffering, the cessation of suffering, and the noble truth of the path leading to the cessation of suffering. Any noble disciple who is endowed with hearing and wisdom, truly knows that this is the noble truth of suffering, this is the origin of suffering, this is the cessation of suffering, and this is the path leading to the cessation of suffering. At that time, he abandons the inverted perception of permanence in impermanence, the inverted mind, and the inverted view. He abandons the inverted perception of happiness in suffering, purity in impurity, and self in non-self, the inverted mind, and the inverted view. Thus it is said. Moreover, in the sutra, it is said that the venerable Ananda acted with the power of the noble ones. The origin of this story is in Shravasti. Then, the venerable Ananda, in the morning, put on his robes and carried his bowl, and together with the ascetic venerable Vagisvara, who was following behind, entered Shravasti for alms. Then, the venerable Vagisvara saw a group of young and beautiful women with radiant complexions, and a mind of desire arose. Then, the venerable Vagisvara thought to himself: I have seen this group of young and beautiful women with radiant complexions, and a mind of attachment has arisen, which I have not found and have not obtained, I have found the bad, but have not obtained the good. Realizing this, he said these words to the venerable Ananda: The desire of lust, Overwhelms my heart. Gautama, have compassion for me, Please speak of the means of peace. Inverted thoughts, Torment your mind. Abandoning the attachment to pleasant appearances, Lust will be nearly abandoned. Always meditate on the impure, Steadfastly settle with one-pointedness. Having been scorched by the fire of impurity, Again and again.

It will not be burned. Acting inferior, Likewise, see suffering as selfless. Remembering what belongs to the body, Then extreme aversion arises. After meditating on the signless, The subtle arrogance is pacified. From this, having realized arrogance, Then one can stop all suffering. Thus it is said. Among the views of externalists, this is the most excellent, as it is said. The occasion was in Shravasti. Monks, I will explain ten kinds of supreme designations. Listen well and keep them in mind, and I will explain them. What are the ten supreme designations? As long as King Pasenadi Kosala is victorious over his own land, as King Pasenadi Kosala, wherever he is designated, having been designated, he is designated and acts, among all sentient beings, King Kosala is supreme. However, King Pasenadi Kosala is also impermanent and subject to change. Noble disciples with hearing and wisdom, having known this, become disgusted with it, free from attachment. Because of being free from attachment, they attain liberation, and liberation is the supreme liberation. If one is disgusted even with the supreme, what need is there to mention the inferior? This is the first supreme designation. As the sun steals all darkness and illuminates the directions, so it is with a thousand worlds, namely a thousand suns, a thousand moons, a thousand Mount Meru kings, a thousand eastern Purvavidehas, a thousand western Aparagodaniyas, a thousand northern Uttarakurus, a thousand southern Jambudvipas, a thousand heavens of the Four Great Kings, a thousand Thirty-three Heavens, a thousand Yamas, a thousand Tushitas, a thousand Nirmanaratis, a thousand Paranirmitavasavartis, and a thousand Brahma worlds. This is called a thousand of the small thousand worlds. Among those thousand of the small thousand worlds, the Great Brahma King is supreme. However, that Great Brahma King is also impermanent and subject to change. And so on as before, what need is there to say more about the inferior? This is the second supreme designation. Monks, this world
