I have not done it for long. Ananda, if a monk thus separately contemplates in his own mind, and thus knows that with regard to these five aggregates of clinging, the pride that appears as 'I' and the subtle habits of desiring 'I' have not been abandoned, not been fully known, not been stopped, and not been done for long. The noble disciple dwells, truly following and observing the arising and ceasing of these five aggregates of clinging. For example, this is form, this is the arising of form, this is the cessation of form. This is feeling, perception, and mental formations. This is consciousness, this is the arising of consciousness, this is the cessation of consciousness. Thus, he dwells, truly following and observing the arising and ceasing of these five aggregates of clinging again and again, so that the pride that appears as 'I' and the subtle habits of desiring 'I' with regard to these five aggregates of clinging, which have not been abandoned, not been fully known, not been stopped, and not been done for long, will not occur. Ananda, if a monk thus separately contemplates and knows in his own mind, then with regard to these five aggregates of clinging, the pride that appears as 'I' and the subtle habits of desiring 'I' have not been abandoned, not been fully known, not been stopped, and not been done for long, this situation does not exist. Ananda, he possesses mindfulness and awareness, this Dharma is purely white, purely virtuous, purely without fault, like a fire extinguished, the evil demon cannot truly seize it, all afflictions, sins, and unwholesome dharmas, in samsara, with diseases and ripening results, suffering, and birth, old age, sickness, and death, cannot seize it, this is called (the true Dharma). It is said in the scriptures, in the treatises, summarizing with chapters, in the sixth chapter of the treatises, it is said: One should completely know evil deeds. Thus it is said. There are three kinds of evil deeds, thus it is said. The beginning of the story is in Shravasti. There are three kinds of evil deeds: evil deeds of body, evil deeds of speech, and evil deeds of mind. There are three kinds of good deeds: good deeds of body, good deeds of speech, and good deeds of mind. If one has done evil deeds of body, evil deeds of speech,

If one acts improperly with the body, speaks improperly with the tongue, and acts improperly with the mind, beings will be born in the hell realms. If one acts properly with the body, speaks properly with the tongue, and acts properly with the mind, one will be born in the heavens, so it is said. In the Sutra of Accumulated Karma, the setting is in Shravasti. Then, the Blessed One called to the monks, saying: 'Monks, I say that the ripening of karma that has been done, accumulated, and nearly accumulated will not be experienced individually.' This is experienced in the nature of seeing the Dharma, from birth, and in other instances. Monks, I say that the ripening of karma that has not been done, not accumulated, and not nearly accumulated will not be experienced individually. Monks, therefore, the sins of the body, the three kinds of unwholesome actions, and the four of speech, and the three of mind, if done, accumulated, and nearly accumulated, the ripening will bring suffering and unwholesomeness. Monks, how does one commit the sins of the body, the three kinds of unwholesome actions, if done, accumulated, and nearly accumulated, the ripening will bring suffering and unwholesomeness? Some kill living beings, with hands stained with blood, destroying and utterly abandoning, without shame or compassion, seizing the lives of all living beings, even ants, and do not turn away from killing. Some take what is not given, going to towns or monasteries, stealing what is not given by others, counting it as theft, and do not turn away from taking what is not given. Some engage in sexual misconduct, guarded by their mother, or guarded by their father, or guarded by their husband, or guarded by their sister, or guarded by their father-in-law, or guarded by their mother-in-law, or guarded by their relatives, or guarded by their race, or guarded by their lineage, or with punishment, or with concealment, other women completely possessed by others, throwing glances at them, and together with them, oppress them with force, engaging in sexual acts, and do not turn away from sexual misconduct. Monks, these three unwholesome actions of the body, if done and accumulated, the ripening will bring suffering and unwholesomeness.
