If so, as it is said in the previous Sojong Sutra, the recitation of this sutra is not appropriate. Furthermore, in the "Mingchen Sutra," it is said that the Blessed One was residing in the Kuta Vihara of the Jeta Grove in the land of the Shakyas. Then, Shakya Mingchen approached the place where the Blessed One was and said to the Blessed One: Venerable, how much is needed to become a layperson? Mingchen, a householder wearing white clothes, possessing male faculties, takes refuge in the Buddha, takes refuge in the Dharma, takes refuge in the Sangha, and also says in words, "Please accept me as a layperson." Mingchen, just this much is enough to become a layperson. Venerable, is just this much enough to become a layperson? Venerable, how much is needed to become a layperson who practices only one precept? Mingchen, if a layperson abandons killing and turns away from killing, just this much is enough to become a layperson who practices only one precept. Venerable, is just this much enough to become a layperson who practices only one precept? Venerable, how much is needed to become a layperson who observes one aspect of discipline? Mingchen, if a layperson abandons killing and turns away from killing, abandons taking what is not given and turns away from taking what is not given, Mingchen, just this much is enough to become a layperson who practices one aspect. Venerable, is just this much enough to become a layperson who practices one aspect? Venerable, how much is needed to become a layperson who practices mostly? Mingchen, if a layperson abandons killing and turns away from killing, abandons taking what is not given and turns away from taking what is not given, abandons sexual misconduct and turns away from sexual misconduct, Mingchen, just this much is enough to become a layperson who practices mostly. Venerable, is just this much enough to become a layperson who practices mostly? Venerable, how much is needed to become a layperson who has complete discipline? If a layperson abandons killing and turns away from killing, taking what is not given, and sexual misconduct.

Having abandoned sexual misconduct and lying, and the place of carelessness where one becomes intoxicated by grain wine and mixed wine, if one returns from the place of carelessness where one becomes intoxicated by grain wine and mixed wine, then by this name alone, one becomes a fully ordained Upasaka. Does this monk become a fully ordained Upasaka by this alone? From "Shakya Mingchen" to "having risen and gone." Those who are frightened by fear, mostly in mountains and forests. From the Great Miraculous Sutra, it is recited thus: Then, lotuses arose from the right and left sides of the Blessed One, and on those lotuses resided emanations of the Buddha, and from the right and left sides of those emanations, lotuses arose, and so on up to Akanishta. On those lotuses, some Blessed Ones were blazing, burning, and raining, and emitting lightning, some were prophesying, some were asking questions, some were answering, some were walking, some were abiding, and some were appearing as if sleeping. Then, at that time, the Blessed One spoke this verse: One should strive and arise, one should enter the Buddha's teachings, like an elephant destroying a house of reeds, one should destroy the army of the Lord of Death. Whoever, with great mindfulness, practices this Dharma and Discipline, having completely abandoned the cycle of birth, will put an end to suffering. Then, the Blessed One blessed them so that even boys and girls could see the emanations of the Buddha up to Akanishta without any obscuration. Then, the Blessed One called out to the monks, saying: Monks, hold these signs, and then he disappeared. Then, King Sderabtuphambye said to the heretics: Hey, have you seen the miracles and wonders that the Blessed One has shown, which are superior to human Dharma, and the unsurpassed miracles that are beyond human Dharma? Now it is your turn, you should also show human Dharma.

Having spoken thus, (they said) to show special and extraordinary miracles and wonders. Then, Light Protector Completer, and the son of Black Clan Wanderer, and the son of Eloquence Victorious One, the Unvanquished Hair-knot One, and the son of Katyayana Naughty One, and the Naked One Kinsman's Son, they pushed each other's shoulders, fell down and became silent, their courage was diminished, their shoulders drooped, they became without confidence, and their minds entered into depression. The Teacher then spoke thus: As long as the sun has not risen, the firefly shines. When the sun has risen, its light vanishes and becomes dark. Likewise, as long as the Thus-Gone One has not appeared, speculation seems bright. When the Perfectly Enlightened One illuminates the world, speculation does not appear, nor is it a Hearer. Then, Vajrapani thought, "These foolish beings have been approaching the Thus-Gone One for a long time," and in order to make the heretics' house of miracles disappear, he sent down red wind and rain. Some of them, terrified, entered mountain caves, some entered grass huts, some entered forest caves, some entered monasteries, some entered temples, and some entered the Thus-Gone One's house of miracles. Then, the Thus-Gone One, with the great miracles of the Buddhas and the Buddhas, and the great power of the gods and the gods, blessed the house of miracles in such a way that not even a single drop of rain would fall upon it. Then, at that time, the Thus-Gone One spoke this verse: From "Those who are afraid and terrified" to "They will not be liberated from all suffering." Whatever is recited in this way, for the time being, it is up to the Fourth Touch Sutra. Then, the son of a noble householder family, renowned, seeing the Dharma, obtaining the Dharma, understanding the Dharma, comprehending the categories of the Dharma, transcending doubt and hesitation about the Dharma, not being led by others, having obtained fearlessness in the Dharma, rose from his seat, bared one shoulder, and folded his palms towards where the Thus-Gone One was, and spoke thus to the Thus-Gone One: "Venerable One, I aspire to
