Furthermore, if a son or daughter of good family with faith makes offerings to the sick and those who attend to the sick, this is the sixth meritorious act arising from substance, from "great fruit" to as before, "merit increases." These seven objects of meritorious deeds, which are not produced from material things, are of great fruit, great benefit, great glory, and great expanse. Whichever son or daughter of a faithful family possesses them, whether walking, sitting, sleeping, or awake, will always and constantly increase merit. What are the seven? Instigator, here, a son or daughter of a faithful family, having heard that the Tathagata or the Sangha of the Tathagata's disciples are dwelling in a certain village or field, obtains liberation, accumulating the joy and great joy that perfectly gathers virtue. Instigator, this is the first object of meritorious deeds that is not produced from material things, from "great fruit" to "increase merit" as before. Instigator, furthermore, a son or daughter of a faithful family, having heard that the Tathagata or the Sangha of the Tathagata's disciples are about to come here, obtains liberation, accumulating the joy and great joy that perfectly gathers virtue. Instigator, this is the second object of meritorious deeds that is not produced from material things, from "great fruit" to "increase merit" as before. Instigator, furthermore, a son or daughter of a faithful family, having heard that the Tathagata or the Sangha of the Tathagata's disciples have entered the path, obtains liberation, accumulating the joy and great joy that perfectly gathers virtue. Instigator, this is the third object of meritorious deeds that is not produced from material things, from "great fruit" to "increase merit" as before. Instigator, furthermore, a son or daughter of a faithful family, having heard that the Tathagata or the Sangha of the Tathagata's disciples have gone to and are dwelling in a certain village or field, obtains liberation, accumulating the joy and great joy that perfectly gathers virtue.
