What I have explained, I shall explain in detail. Thus it was said. Thus, the eight hells should be viewed as written above in the section on the Abhidharma-kośa (Treasury of Manifest Knowledge). In the section called "Explaining the Discriminations of the Pretas," as quoted from the Hundredfold Explanation of the Hearers' Vinaya from the Minor Collection, this text is more concise than the Hearers' Vinaya. In summary: Palace and bone rosary, Unsurpassed ear ornament, piece of flesh, Food offering, arrow and spear, Pig-eye vase is the fifth. The setting is in Rajagriha (王舍城). At that time, the venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana and the venerable Subhadra were dwelling on Vulture Peak Mountain in Rajagriha. Then, the venerable Subhadra arose in the morning and went to where the venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana was. Having arrived, he paid homage to the feet of the venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana and sat down to one side. Having sat down to one side, the venerable Subhadra said to the venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana: Venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana, it is now time to descend from Vulture Peak Mountain and go to Rajagriha for alms.

The Venerable One Maha Maudgalyayana assented to the Venerable Goodness without speaking. Then, the Venerable Maha Maudgalyayana and the Venerable Goodness, in the early morning, took their robes and bowls, descended from Vulture Peak Mountain, and entered Rajagriha for alms. Then, the Venerable Maha Maudgalyayana smiled and sat in another place. The Venerable Goodness saw the Venerable Maha Maudgalyayana smiling. Having seen it, he said: The Tathagata or the Shravakas of the Tathagata do not smile without cause, what is the cause of the Venerable Maha Maudgalyayana's smiling? What is the reason? The time for the Venerable Goodness to ask the question has not yet come, after begging for alms in Rajagriha, ask in front of the Teacher, and then the question will be explained in the prophecy. Then, the Venerable Maha Maudgalyayana and the Venerable Goodness, after begging for alms in Rajagriha, finished the work of eating, placed the robes and bowls in the shade, washed their feet, and went to where the Blessed One was. Having arrived, they prostrated at the feet of the Blessed One and sat on one side. Having sat on one side, the Venerable Goodness said to the Venerable Maha Maudgalyayana: What is the cause of the Venerable Maha Maudgalyayana's smiling? What is the reason? The Venerable Goodness said: I saw a being, like a palace, rising upwards from the sky, uttering cries of lamentation, and experiencing intense and harsh painful feelings. I thought to myself, such a being, such a Yaksha, having obtained such an entity, is experiencing such intense, hot, and harsh suffering. Then, the Blessed One called out to the monks and said: Monks, my Shravaka has become one with eyes, has become one who knows, has become one who abides in the Dharma, well done, well done. My Shravaka has a place to become such a knower and seer. Monks, I have also seen such a being, but I have not told anyone, because some people to what I say
