And the ear, and the nose, and the tongue, and the body, and the mind, having gathered, touch; these are the six aggregates of touch, the fourth of the six aggregates. What are the six aggregates of feeling? The feeling born from the touch that arises from the gathering of the eye, and the ear, and the nose, and the tongue, and the body, and the mind, having gathered, touch; these are the six aggregates of feeling, the fifth of the six aggregates. What are the six aggregates of craving? The craving born from the touch that arises from the gathering of the eye, and the ear, and the nose, and the tongue, and the body, and the mind, having gathered, touch; these are the six aggregates of craving, the sixth of the six aggregates. Monks, it is not reasonable to say that the eye is mine. Why is that? Monks, the eye knows birth and death, and whatever knows birth and death will be born and will die, like this, so it is not reasonable. Monks, even if you say 'I', it is not 'I'. Form and eye consciousness, and the touch that arises from the gathering of the eye, and the feeling born from the touch that arises from the gathering of the eye, and the craving born from the touch that arises from the gathering of the eye, it is not reasonable to say 'I'. Why is that? Monks, the feeling born from the touch that arises from the gathering of the eye knows birth and death, and whatever knows birth and death will be born and will die, like this, so it is not reasonable. Monks, whatever says that the craving born from the touch that arises from the gathering of the eye is 'I', that craving born from the condition of the touch that arises from the gathering of the eye is not 'I'. And the ear, and the nose, and the tongue, and the body, monks, it is not reasonable to say that the mind is 'I'. Why is that? Monks, the mind knows birth and death, and whatever knows birth and death will be born and will die, like this, so it is not reasonable. Monks, this saying that the mind is 'I' is that the mind is not 'I'. Dharma and mind consciousness, and the feeling born from the touch that arises from the gathering of the mind, and the craving born from the touch that arises from the gathering of the mind is 'I', saying

That is not reasonable. Why is that? Monks, craving arising from the gathering of mind knows its arising and ceasing, and if it knows its arising and ceasing, then it will come to be like this arising and ceasing, therefore it is not reasonable. To say that craving arising from the gathering of mind is self is that craving arising from the gathering of mind is selfless. Why is that? Monks, depending on the eye and form, eye consciousness arises, and the touch of the three gatherings, and because of the touch, feelings of pleasure and pain arise, as well as neither pleasure nor pain. Monks, if one is touched by pleasant feelings, one will be manifestly happy, extremely happy, manifestly attached and abide, and attachment to pleasant feelings will increase. Monks, if one is touched by painful feelings, one will be unbearable, anger and displeasure will arise, one will be depressed and abide, and anger will be accumulated, and hatred for painful feelings will increase. Thus, if one does not truly know that feeling is the source of my arising, invisible, experience, fault, and departure, then ignorance of pleasant and painful feelings will increase. Monks, if a monk has not abandoned the increase of attachment to pleasant feelings, has not abandoned the increase of hatred to painful feelings, and has not abandoned the increase of ignorance to neither pleasant nor painful feelings, then this view and the subtle increase of pride will arise, and from ignorance, without separation from desire, without the arising of correct wisdom, it is impossible to become the end of suffering. Monks, if a monk abandons the increase of attachment to pleasant feelings, abandons the increase of hatred to painful feelings, and abandons the increase of ignorance to neither pleasant nor painful feelings, then this view and the subtle increase of pride will not arise, and from ignorance, separation from desire, correct wisdom will arise, and it is possible to become the end of suffering.
