Thus I spoke. Then, the Brahmins and householders of Magadha thought: Form is not self, feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness are not self, if I am not these, then what am I? Is it a sentient being? Is it life? Is it a person? Is it an individual? Is it born of power? Is it a son of power? Is it a doer? Is it a causer to do? Is it a generator? Is it a true generator? Is it a solicitor? Is it a universal solicitor? Is it a feeler? Is it a causer to feel? Is it a complete feeler? Whichever it is, having done virtuous deeds there and there, and having done them, each experiences the ripening, does not understand, has not happened, will not happen, and does not exist now, they thought. Then, the Blessed One, knowing the minds of those Brahmins and householders with his mind, called out to the monks, saying: Monks, the so-called "I" and "mine" are those who are uneducated, ordinary people who follow after what is imputed, there is no I or mine here. When suffering arises, it arises, when suffering ceases, it ceases. When volition arises, it arises, and when volition ceases, it ceases. Depending on those causes and those conditions, the stream of volitions of sentient beings flows, and the stream of volitions itself becomes the connection. Monks, having known this, the Thus-gone One causes sentient beings to be established in birth and death. The Blessed One said this to everyone, for the time being, from the summary of the end of the aggregates, Venerable, is it taking the aggregates, or is it taking something other than the aggregates? Monks, it is not taking the aggregates, nor is it taking something other than the aggregates, however, attachment to joy is called taking. Similarly, from the fierce summary of the collection of the six sense bases, from eye and form to mind and dharma, this is called what should be taken. Whatever is attachment to joy is called the dharma of taking, these two sutras will be explained in the fifth and seventh chapters of the Abhidharmakosha. In the sutra, Ananda, there will also be beings who accomplish existence in the next life, etc., the basis of this topic is in Shravasti. Then, the venerable A
