There is nothing superior to this, and it will not happen. The Tathagata knows them as they truly are. From "Thus it is said" to as previously stated, "Monks, other profound dharmas, appearing as profound, will be proclaimed." Monks, what are the other profound dharmas that appear as profound? From "Thus it is said" to as previously stated, "Monks, some ascetics or Brahmins, contemplating the past, think that I and the world have an end, and also have an end and also are without end, are neither with end nor without end, thus these four things." Those ascetics or Brahmins, relying on what, dwelling on what, with what as their object, contemplate the past, saying that I and the world have an end and are without end, are neither without end and have an end, are without end and also without end, are neither without end nor have an end, will those who speak of direct perception arise speaking of direct perception? Monks, here, some ascetics or Brahmins, in a solitary place or under a tree or in an empty room, from "Thus it is said" to as previously stated, when the mind is in samadhi, become aware that this world is finite. They think thus: the world is finite, in this way, the world is finite and completely destroyed, I, in a solitary place or under a tree or in an empty room, because of diligence, abandonment, and cultivation, from "Thus it is said" to as previously stated, when in samadhi, abide in the awareness that the world is finite, saying that the world is finite and the end is destroyed. Monks, this is the first thing, that which is contemplated, from "Thus it is said" to as previously stated. The second will also arise.

Furthermore, what does a renunciate or Brahmin know and rely on? It is as previously stated. Monks, here, some renunciates or Brahmins, when dwelling in a monastery, under a tree, or in an empty house, how do they abide in meditative equipoise? They develop a perception that the world above and below is finite and directly infinite, and then they think, "The world above and below is finite, but directly it is infinite." In this way, the world above and below is finite, but directly it is infinite. I dwell in a monastery, under a tree, or in an empty house, and from there, abiding in meditative equipoise, the perception that the world above and below is infinite, but directly finite, is closely established. They think that the world above and below is finite, but directly infinite. Monks, here, what is the third thing that is known? It is as previously stated. The fourth thing will also arise, renunciates and Brahmins, who know, rely on, and aim at what, contemplating the past limit, saying that I and the world are finite, infinite, both finite and not finite, neither infinite nor non-infinite? Monks, here, some renunciates or Brahmins, in a monastery or..., when abiding in meditative equipoise, a perception arises that the world is neither finite nor infinite. They think: The world is neither finite nor infinite. In this way, the world is neither finite nor infinite. I dwell in a monastery, under a tree, or in an empty house, and from there, abiding in meditative equipoise, a perception arises that the world is neither finite nor infinite. They think that I and the world are neither finite nor infinite. Monks, this is the fourth thing, who knows, relies on, and aims at what? It is as previously stated.

It is. By proclaiming the infinite, all those proclaimers cannot surpass these four things, as previously stated. Monks, what other dharmas appear profound and deep? As previously stated. What dharmas appear so profound and deep? As previously stated, some monks and Brahmins contemplate the past, thinking there is no death and no distraction, they ask questions about no death and no distraction, thereby generating distraction, namely about these four things. Monks, here some ascetics or Brahmins do not truly know unwholesome dharmas, nor do they truly know wholesome dharmas, suffering, origination, cessation, and the path, they think: I do not truly know unwholesome dharmas, up to I do not truly know the path. The ascetic or Brahmin asks questions about unwholesome dharmas, and asks questions about wholesome dharmas, suffering, origination, cessation, and the path, if they answer these questions about unwholesome dharmas, and answer those questions about wholesome dharmas, suffering, origination, cessation, and the path, then it will become my lie. Therefore, the ascetic or Brahmin fears lying, because they fear lying, they completely condemn lying, and take it as their goal and dwelling place, taking it as their reliance, island, and friend. From the words of death and distraction, distraction arises. Monks, this is the first thing, namely, due to contemplating, relying on, and clinging to something, thereby generating distraction by asking questions about the past, death, and distraction. There is also a second situation that will occur, namely, the ascetic or Brahmin contemplates, as previously stated. Monks, some ascetics or Brahmins do not truly know unwholesome dharmas, as previously stated.
