Thus it is extracted from the one with. Then, the venerable Ānanda said this to the Blessed One: Venerable, as I understand the meaning spoken by the Blessed One, if there is birth, there will be aging and death; otherwise, without the cause of birth, aging and death will not occur. If there is birth, existence, grasping, craving, feeling, contact, the six sense sources, name and form, consciousness, and ignorance, then there will be formations; otherwise, without ignorance, these formations will not occur. Venerable, if there is no birth, aging and death will not occur; otherwise, if birth ceases, aging and death will not cease. If birth, existence, grasping, craving, feeling, contact, the six sense sources, name and form, consciousness, and ignorance cease, then formations will cease; otherwise, if ignorance does not cease, formations will not cease. Ānanda, it is so, it is so. If there is birth, there will be aging and death; otherwise, if there is no birth, aging and death will not occur, and so on as before, if ignorance ceases, then formations will cease. The sixty-two views are as described in the Brahma Net Sutra. I have heard that once, the Blessed One, together with a monastic community of one thousand three hundred and fifty monks, one thousand laywomen, and five hundred beggars, was traveling in the land of Magadha, and went to the bamboo grove, the king's residence, between Rajagriha and Pataliputra, for the night's lodging. At that time, the wandering mendicant Rabga was proclaiming non-praises of the Buddha in various ways, and proclaiming non-praises of the Dharma and the Sangha. Brahma-datta, who lived with the wandering mendicant Rabga, proclaimed praises of the Buddha in various ways, and proclaimed praises of the Dharma and the Sangha. Both the teacher and the disciple had different views, and their desires and opinions were different, just like the Blessed One.

followed the deceased Arhat Samyaksaṃbuddha. Then, a great many monks gathered at the place where the king resided, and while they were sitting together, such a topic arose in between: "Venerable ones, the inclinations of sentient beings are diverse, it is wonderful! Why is it that the wandering Rādhā now does not speak of the praise of the Buddha, does not speak of the praise of the Dharma and the Saṅgha?" From this point until the praise of the Saṅgha. A great many monks gathered at the place where the king resided, and when they were sitting together speaking such words, the Blessed One, residing in the abode during the day, heard with his divine ear, which is exceedingly pure and surpasses human abilities. Having heard, the Blessed One went to the place where the king resided, and sat down on the seat prepared in the midst of the Saṅgha of monks. The Blessed One addressed the monks, saying: "Monks, what kind of topic arose when a great many monks gathered at the place where the king resided, and when they were sitting together, what kind of topic did they discuss? For what reason did they gather and sit together?" "Venerable one, here, a great many monks gathered at the place where the king resided, and when they were sitting together, the topic they discussed was: 'The inclinations of sentient beings are diverse, it is wonderful! Why is it that the wandering Rādhā now does not speak of the praise of the Buddha, does not speak of the praise of the Dharma and the Saṅgha?' From this point until the praise of the Saṅgha. Like this, we are as before." "Monks, you should not be impatient, disbelieving, or displeased with those who speak of my dispraise, and do not speak of the praise of the Dharma and the Saṅgha. Monks, if you become impatient, disbelieving, and very displeased with those who speak of my dispraise, do not speak of the praise of the Dharma and the Saṅgha, then that itself will become an obstacle between you. Why is that? Monk, in that case, one will become angry and violent, and unpleasant. Others say

It is impossible and there is no opportunity to fully know and see the meaning of the land in all aspects. Monks, therefore, know that saying non-praise of me, and saying non-praise of the Dharma and the Sangha, is the true praise. This is not true, for example, this is not true, we do not have this Dharma, so know that the non-true is the non-true, and completely abandon it. Monks, when I say my praise, and when I say the praise of the Dharma and the Sangha, you should not be happy, joyful, and agitated. Monks, when I say my praise, and when I say the praise of the Dharma and the Sangha, if you are happy, joyful, and agitated, that will become an obstacle between you. Why is that? Monks, if happiness arises, joy arises, and agitation arises, then it will be impossible and there will be no opportunity to fully know and see all the meanings spoken by others. Monks, therefore, when I say my praise, and when I say the praise of the Dharma and the Sangha, know that this is true, for example, this is true, we possess these Dharmas, so know that the true is the true, and completely abandon the non-true as the non-true. The praise and talk of the Tathagata by an unlearned common person is very small, for example, only morality, or only detachment from desires. How is it only morality? The Blessed One possesses morality, is perfect in morality, acts as he speaks, and speaks as he acts. The Blessed One has abandoned killing and is separated from killing, has abandoned sticks and weapons, from there in detail up to the simile, and from the collection of morality up to the point of ripening later. This is only morality. How is it detachment?
