In the expression "growth transforms through the gate," regarding the word "to," it should not be restricted and questioned as "solely through the gate of the object," because whatever arises in growth through the gate of the object, undoubtedly also grows through the corresponding gate of association. "Subtle growth pervades," meaning growth manifests. Pervasion is of two kinds: one is pervasion to all of one's own realms and grounds, and the other is pervasion to all realms and grounds of unequal fortune. Non-pervasion is also of two kinds: one is directed towards that which is with outflows, and the other is directed towards that which is without outflows. "In all" means also in all five aspects, that is, from what is to be abandoned by seeing suffering to what is to be abandoned by cultivation. Regarding "after making a general statement," what is the general statement here? It is that through the gate of the object, one's own self grows in all ways. How is this a general statement? Here, "ground" is clearly intended to mean "object," that is, the synonym for "one's own ground is one's own object." What is specifically excluded is: "not the object of the higher ground without outflows," which is a detailed explanation. These things have the entity of growth in their own assembly through the gate of corresponding association, that is, "whatever corresponds with whatever, that is the gate of corresponding association." It is explained. "Capable of growing" means capable of increasing or abiding, like seeds in a field with hail, and dust accumulating on damp cloth. Here, the view of self is not referring to things without outflows, nor is it referring to entering higher grounds. It is also not craving, because "this is not desire, because it is to be abandoned," and so on has already been explained. Therefore, the subtle growths that have those as their objects do not abide in them, so they do not grow, it is said. If it is not held by craving, then how does it abide here and pursue its meaning? Therefore, it is said, "Whatever abides here," and so on. The so-called "that is aspiration for virtuous Dharma," it has already been clarified that pursuing the outflowless is not craving. The so-called "those are not in accordance with those," here "those" refers to cessation and so on.

With what is it combined? It is like saying that coarse food does not increase in a person with wind disease. For example, if it is said that coarse food does not increase in a person with wind disease, it means that it does not agree with the body. Similarly, here, the meaning of "increase" should also be understood as "agreeing." Then, how is it through the way of similarity and correspondence? That is, it says: Whatever with whatever is similar, That is through that similar door. It means that whatever dharma is similar to mind or feelings, etc., there it increases only through the path of similarity and correspondence with them. The word "ni" is because it specifically emphasizes "until not abandoned." "Is there sight?" is a question. "Yes, it exists in all unequal realms" is the answer, just like "not possessed, because it is hostile." Existing in all unequal realms refers to existing in the three dhyanas and the three formless realms, but not in the desire realm, because there is no distinction of realms. It is also not in the fourth dhyana, nor in the peak of existence, because there is no other realm. Then, how does subtle increase increase through similarity and correspondence or through the object of focus? Just as wine mixed with poison is harmful, and similar qualities increase the power of the poison, so too, contaminated formations increase the power of afflictions due to similar qualities. Just as poison mixed with medicine weakens its power, so too, afflictions that focus on the uncontaminated are similar to that. Therefore, wrong views that focus on the uncontaminated do not cut off all roots of virtue. For the time being, it is like that through the path of similarity and correspondence. Through the path of the object of focus, it is like an enemy seeking opportunity and poison in the eye, and thus it increases through the path of the object of focus. Regarding the statement "all superiors are unpredicted," it should be definitely understood as "all superiors are only unpredicted," and not "only superiors are unpredicted." Although all actions in the form and formless realms are subtle increases, because they are subdued by samadhi, they cannot accomplish the ripened fruit, and therefore are unpredicted.
