It is not seen by inferior eyes. Here, the merits of the path are not spoken of as three. For example, in order to reach the desired place, walking is the only way; because one walks without fear, it is luminous; because it is not disturbed by stumps and thorns, etc., it is easy to walk and follow. This path of selflessness should also be viewed in accordance with this principle. There are four reasons why the path cannot be seen: darkness accompanied by gloom; even though illuminated by the sun, no one walks; even though many people walk, it is not obscured; even if separated, it is because the viewer's eyes are inferior. Among these reasons, the reason why the path cannot be seen is that if other people can see this path, then the reason why the path cannot be seen is solely the fault of the viewer. It is not the fault of the path, only one reason is stated here. Therefore, the selfless Tathagata, endowed with the light of the sun-like teachings, walked by thousands of noble ones, even if separated, cannot be seen by those with inferior eyes, this should be understood. Therefore, this is only one aspect, this is the extensive explanation. If so, then it is said thus, showing as it is said. Aspect is just one aspect. In the great treatise of Abhidharma, it is said that these few things are shown, this is the remainder of the sentence. For whom? It is for those who are very wise, it means those who are endowed with intelligence. This is the sixth meaning. How is it? It is said, "Growing by one's own power, like the aspect of a wound to poison." For example, if someone thinks that poison spreads through the wound by its own power, growing in all limbs, then one would think, how can it grow? Just like removing that wound, those who are very wise are like poison because they grow by their own power. Therefore, because the very wise are mentioned first, for those with strong understanding and great wisdom, I would think, how can I understand the great treatise of Abhidharma, the door of meaning established by the Kashmiri Vaibhashikas, with a small amount of content? Therefore, this is proclaimed. Others say, therefore, this is only one aspect.

It is said that this is spoken only in terms of refuting selflessness. This treatise on Abhidharma, which I have written, mostly explains the tenets of the Kashmir Vaibhashika school. Because this itself has already explained the meaning. So it is said. As an appendix to the eighth chapter of the Treasury, the determination of related persons is completed. Because this commentary on the Treasury is difficult, I have distinguished it according to the tradition of the teachers. Whatever is wrong, that is my fault here. For the accomplishment of good meaning, that wisdom is correct. Thus, I have examined the previous other commentaries, and on top of those, the previous one is the real one. This commentary on the Treasury, called "Following the Characteristics," is now widely known. Whatever stainless virtue and virtue that destroys non-virtue arises from the explanation of the Treasury by me. May it pacify all the suffering fire of sentient beings belonging to the three realms. Afterwards, may I myself also completely destroy all the enemies of afflictions and attain the state of Buddhahood. Because there is no rebirth and death, may I widely go to the supreme state of nirvana. Made by the teacher named "Increasing Perfection," made by one who has reached the other shore of the vast ocean of Dharma. The commentary on the Dharma Treasury, called "Following the Characteristics," is located on the south side of the great snow mountain Kailash and Lake Manasarovar, at the foot of the fragrant mountain Gandhamadana, in the Purang area. It was translated by the Indian abbot Kanakavarma and the Tibetan translator Patsaba Nyima Drak, with offerings of turquoise pigs and other items by a hundred or so people, mainly monks, and the general monastic community, and by order. The lineage of the landowner Yontan Nyima, the Bodhisattva. With the light of the well-arranged laws and Dharma-filled speech. Dispelling the darkness of the confusion of those to be tamed within the domain, showing the path. When the venerable teachers and ministers, the offerers and patrons, pass away. Nowadays, small-scale internal strife, spontaneous demonic possession descends. The three districts of Purang are healed by the monastic community, Dharma, law, and medicine. By the power of merit, the wise ones possess light. Possessing the glory of gentleness and the mandala of loving-kindness. From the rising of the translator Yontan Nyima and the sun and moon. The place of holding the throne of the ocean of Dharma. The lineage of hearing and explanation.
