Things! Having made it the seventh of causes, what arises from it is substance-born. For example, giving to someone who comes suddenly, giving to a guest, giving to a sick person, giving to a sick attendant, offering to a monastery, and if things like sudden rain and great wind occur, giving food and porridge, etc. These are the seven things for doing merit that arise from substance. The term 'always' means again and again. The term 'uninterruptedly' means without interval. Being endowed with things that are not substance-born is also similar to that, meaning that just as being endowed with things that are substance-born constantly and uninterruptedly only increases merit, so too is it the case with being endowed with things that are not substance-born. Furthermore, these are those who possess faith, for example, having heard that the Thus-Gone One or a Hearer of the Thus-Gone One resides in a town or near a town, and having heard it, obtaining joy and great joy in the mind, as it appears in the sutra. The term 'possessing another mind' means possessing a mind that is afflicted and undeclared. At that time, merit cannot increase apart from manifestation, because for someone possessing another mind, there is no connection of bodily manifestation. Non-manifestation is related to it, because of the definition: 'Distraction and absence of mind, whatever follows virtue and non-virtue.' If non-manifestation does not exist, it will occur that if something is established as the very path of action, then at the time when the action is not completed, for the one who instructs others to engage in the action, there is no manifestation of body and speech. Therefore, it must be undoubtedly acknowledged that non-manifestation exists, for if it is not so, if non-manifestation does not exist, then the path of action will not be accomplished. Or, if one thinks that if an instruction is given, it will become the path of action, therefore it is explained in detail that it is merely giving an instruction. The reason for explaining this in detail is because that action has not been done. That is to say, at the time of giving the instruction, the action of killing, etc., has not been done.

Therefore, not performing actions is also not the true path of action. To dispel the thought that if one acts, it becomes the path of action, it is said that even if it is done, there is no difference in its own nature. Whether one acts or does not act, if there is no difference in the instruction itself, and no difference arises between before and after, how can it later become the path of action? Not included in the eleven realms means the remaining eleven realms except for the realm of Dharma. It is said that it is not a form like the realm of mind. What necessity is there? This is explained in detail. For one who is in meditative absorption, the extremes of physical and verbal actions are not allowed. One who has entered the path does not speak, the body does not move, and one does not seek robes and so on. The reason why it is not allowed is another term for impossible. Impossible means that the minds that arouse them all turn outward. Therefore, it should be undoubtedly accepted as non-manifestation. If there is none of that, then the so-called eightfold path is contradictory. If so, this is explained in detail. Here, if one who has entered the path also has right speech and so on, just like right view and so on, why is it said that this speech, the extremes of action, and livelihood are first? It should be said. If so, it should be known that at that time there is also no non-manifestation of right speech and so on. Therefore, it is said in detail that it is one who has previously been separated from desire by the worldly path, meaning that it refers to one who has previously been separated from desire by the worldly path, and only at the time of previously being separated from desire are they completely purified. This is said in this way, not that there is no right speech and so on included in it at the time of the path. Therefore, there is indeed a non-manifestation of entering the path. After taking up means after taking up.
