These are the forms. Thinking "I am the same as (him)" is the form of pride based on that view. Thinking "I am inferior" is the form of slight pride based on that view. Thinking "I am superior to (others)" is the form of slight pride. Thinking "I am equal to (others)" is the form of pride. Thinking "I am inferior to (others)" is the form of excessive pride. Thinking "I am not superior to (others)" is the form of pride. Thinking "I am not equal to (others)" is the form of excessive pride. Thinking "I am not inferior to (others)" is the form of slight pride. Thus, those nine forms of pride should be understood as arising from three prides. What are the three? They are pride, excessive pride, and slight pride. Furthermore, this is a way of explaining from the perspective of entering through wisdom, that is, "thinking 'I am the most excellent'" is the form of pride, etc., which was said immediately before. Regarding "in relation to inferiority, equality, and special superiority," in relation to inferiority, "thinking 'I am the most excellent'" is pride; in relation to equality, "thinking 'I am the most excellent'" is excessive pride; and if in relation to special superiority, "thinking 'I am the most excellent'" is pride beyond pride. Some say that the pride of thinking "I am" and wrong pride are to be abandoned by seeing, while the rest are to be abandoned by seeing and meditating. To eliminate that view, it is said that "all are to be abandoned by seeing and meditating." Saying "all" is to show that the rest, not just the pride of "I am" and wrong pride, are also to be abandoned by seeing and meditating. Regarding "there is no certainty," here there is no certainty that what has been abandoned cannot be used in all ways, or that what has not been abandoned can be used in all ways. For example, faith, etc., the faculties of sleep and suffering, and the eyes, etc., are still used even after being abandoned, while some cannot be used even if they have not been abandoned, such as the complete entanglement of killing, etc. Focusing on the Dharma to be abandoned by meditation

The reason for saying this is that whatever actions such as killing sentient beings should be abandoned through meditation, because they are the collection of form and so on. Therefore, they should be abandoned through meditation. The so-called "pursuit" refers to the impermanence of the three realms. Pursuit is desire. If you ask: How can I pursue it? This is according to the worldly view, as the sutra says: As long as I am alive, exist, and live, I will be accompanied by disease, accompanied by tumors, accompanied by pain, accompanied by plagues, accompanied by complete torment. Like this, if I am cut off, destroyed, and no longer appear, then I am completely and utterly cut off, I think like this. Mentioning the three realms is to exclude the impermanence of the uncontaminated dharma. Because it is not the basis of existence, it should be excluded. Like this, the word "same" refers to the aspect of the existence of birth, even if I am the protected son of the elephant king, what is wrong with that? and so on. The so-called "and so on" refers to the ruler of the Asuras, the precious woman, the unpleasant sound of the north, and so on. Mentioning the aspect, even if one becomes a ruler or a Chakravartin, what is wrong with that? Like this, it is universally happening. The so-called manifestation of pride will expand, because it is said in the sutra: to be eliminated through seeing and meditation. For the noble ones, if the pride and the manifestation of pride are not abandoned through meditation, they will not universally occur. The so-called "even if those are not abandoned" refers to all the afflictions such as killing and the ultimate form of pride. The so-called "will expand through the view of the perishable collection" refers to entering through the gateway of the view of the perishable collection. The so-called "will expand through wrong view" refers to the wrong understanding of the relationship between cause and effect, which leads to the creation of sins. The so-called "expand" means to increase and help. The so-called "not an unwholesome regret" refers to doing bad deeds, the body...
