The earth said, and the venerable Kungawo said: Because of the perverted perception, your mind is completely tormented. Therefore, those with desire should abandon the ugly reasons. Thus it was said. Here, it was not merely said to be a mistake at that time, but it was said that he was a stream-enterer and that he himself had perversions. Therefore, the so-called "therefore" means that the view of the Vaibhashikas contradicts other schools. The views of other schools also contradict the Vaibhashikas. Not abandoning all eight perversions of perception and mind means that only four have not been abandoned, that is, only the perversion of views has been abandoned. All twelve perversions will be abandoned by seeing the truth, which Sutra did the Vaibhashikas cite as the basis? Abandoning what contradicts this means that those are also the truths of the noble ones, which is explained in detail. The eight perversions of perception and mind become noble by knowing them as they are, and then they are abandoned. It is not possible without that. It refers to not knowing that as it is. Because the method has been correctly shown. Because that Sutra correctly shows the method of abandonment, there is no contradiction with the Sutra. It is thought that it is impossible for the path of seeing not to appear in the path of cultivation. The so-called pride in one's heart without distinction is called arrogance, which refers to the view that arises from relying on oneself and others, because it says "with this arrogance." The so-called "difference from its entry" refers to the difference in kind. Through lineage and reason, etc., one thinks that one is particularly superior because one is small, or one thinks that one is equal or the same through those means, and this inner pride is called arrogance. If it is said that this is not arrogant because it has not fallen into perversion, because it is based on a non-perverted state. Then, this depends on the object, it is not non-virtuous, so what is it? It depends on the similar possession, like the confusion of places. Thinking that one is more superior than equals through lineage, etc., is the increase of

It is pride. Those who are particularly superior in their own way, and still think that I am particularly superior, this is pride above pride. The saying "the five aggregates of close grasping" is widely spread. Because of clinging to those things as self, pride arises, therefore I am the five aggregates of close grasping. Thinking "I am" and giving rise to pride, this is the pride of "I am." Regarding "not obtaining the attainment of excellence," if asked: What does it mean to not obtain attainment? If it is said: Attainment is attainment itself. Then, the meaning is that the attainment of that merit has not been obtained. Because saying that attainment also has attainment is a doctrine. Through ways such as being a householder, renunciant, craftsman, and discipline, being slightly inferior to those who are extremely superior, thinking that I am slightly inferior, this is slight pride. For those who do not possess qualities, thinking that I possess qualities, this is called wrong pride. Not possessing qualities refers to the opposite of qualities, namely misdeeds. Therefore, even if it has become like that, and not possessing qualities, yet thinking that I possess qualities, and being filled with misdeeds, this is wrong pride. If asked: What is the difference between manifest pride and wrong pride? The difference is that manifest pride is accompanied by a basis that is encompassed by false qualities, while wrong pride is without qualities but thinks that I possess qualities, which is without a basis. Manifest pride has seeds, while wrong pride has no seeds. The name "types of pride" means the difference in the types of pride. Thinking that I am similar to someone, this is a type of pride. Thinking that I am inferior, this is a type of pride, and should be applied one by one. For example, thinking that I am similar to someone, this is a type of pride; thinking that I am inferior, this is a type of pride. For all the subsequent cases, it should also be applied one by one. For example, thinking that I am superior to others, this is a type of pride, and so on. Among them, the three roots are based on view, meaning that they are tainted by view. Among them, thinking that I am the most excellent, this is the superior pride based on the view of the perishable aggregate.
