They are divided into four categories, thus becoming twelve. Therefore, it is extensively discussed that 'regarding impermanent things as permanent.' Among them, regarding the statement that 'eight are to be abandoned by seeing,' it refers to the inverted perceptions, minds, and views towards impermanence and selflessness, and the two inverted views towards suffering and impurity. These eight are to be abandoned by seeing. The statement that 'four are to be abandoned by cultivation' will arise. In order to clarify these four, the inverted perceptions and minds towards suffering and impurity are mentioned. Regarding 'for those who have not separated from desire,' if one wants to regard the stream-enterer, the once-returner, and their inversions as inverted minds and perceptions, then 'the inversion of mind and perception' is their synonym. Regarding 'the perceptions and minds of sentient beings arise universally,' it refers to the perceptions of sentient beings arising universally, and the minds of sentient beings arising universally. Regarding 'why not consider them also as inverted,' it refers to the inverted perceptions of sentient beings and the inverted minds of sentient beings. Since there is no special reason, why not consider them also as inverted? Why? Because the views about women and self are extensively discussed, that is, 'I am the enjoyer, this is to be enjoyed,' because one has entered (samsara) in this way. Thus, regarding selfless things as self, such inverted perceptions and inverted minds will also be abandoned through cultivation. The sutra also says that merely by seeing the truths, all twelve inversions are abandoned, and there is nothing to be abandoned by cultivation. For example, a noble hearer who possesses hearing truly knows 'this is the noble truth of suffering,' 'this is the noble truth of the origin of suffering,' 'this is the noble truth of the cessation of suffering,' 'this is the noble truth of the path leading to the cessation of suffering.' At that time, he abandons the inverted perception, inverted mind, and inverted view of regarding impermanent things as permanent, and these are extensively discussed.

The meaning of 'extensive' is that it abandons the inverted perceptions and minds of thinking of happiness in suffering, thinking of purity in impurity, and perceiving self in selflessness. This is the characteristic of the sutras. Therefore, the saying 'arising from views' occurs. 'Others are not' means that perceptions and minds that are similar to what is abandoned by cultivation, although they are wrong, are not inverted because they do not have the same characteristics as views. If it were not so, then all afflictions would be wrong, and therefore would become inverted. An arhat who goes astray on the path, or seeing a rope as a snake, would also become an inverted perception. Therefore, only severe inversions are designated as inversions, not others. And those severe inversions have already been shown to be because of inversion, because of certainty, and because of imputation. Therefore, in the continuum of a trainee, the perception of affliction that arises universally is not called inversion. 'Because at that time it is only confusion' means that at the time of seeing, etc., it is only confusion. Because noble ones do not later have confusion of perception and mind about women and themselves as happiness and purity. Therefore, the confusion of a fire wheel and a painted yaksha are given as examples. For example, just seeing a fire wheel and a painted yaksha without careful examination causes confusion, similarly, noble ones also briefly mistake them for sentient beings without careful examination. Just as this is not inversion, the confusion of perception and mind of noble ones is also not inversion. If the confusion of perception and mind of noble ones is only at that moment and not continuous, then how should we understand the story of the elder Kundakunda, which is widely circulated? The noble Vagisvara said to the elder Kundakunda: 'Because I am overwhelmed by the attachment of desire, my mind is tormented. Gautama, because of your compassion, please tell me about the supreme peace.'
