In between the births of the formless realm. How it exists, as appropriate. In the desire realm, it is abandoned by the forbearance of knowledge of Dharma, and from the first dhyana upwards, it is subdued by the forbearance of subsequent knowledge. Those of the ordinary beings are to be abandoned by cultivation. That is to say, the path of cultivation of the higher ground is the antidote to the lower ground. It is said in the scriptures that the hearers of the Blessed One abandon by seeing, and the ordinary beings by cultivation. In all grounds, saying all is for the purpose of collecting the peak of existence. The two, that is, as appropriate, the noble ones and the ordinary beings, except for the peak of existence. The remaining births are by seeing and cultivating. This is intolerable. Others say that the outsiders, etc. are extensively discussed. Thus, those born at the peak of existence are only subdued by forbearance, not abandoned by seeing. If so, why? It shows that it is born in all grounds. This means why. It is extensively discussed in the Great Sutra of Distinguishing Karma. That Great Sutra of Distinguishing Karma says: Ananda, here, from abandoning killing to abandoning wrong views, one is not happy with this, nor is one separately happy. After the destruction of the body and death, one falls into the evil realms and evil paths, and is born in the hells of sentient beings. Those outside heretics, renunciates, or Brahmins, who have miraculous powers, have divine eyes, and know the minds of others, having seen this, think thus: there is no good conduct of body, nor is there a ripening of good conduct of body. There is no good conduct of speech and mind, nor is there a ripening of good conduct of speech and mind. Thinking thus, it is said that for those who are free from desire, views that are focused on the desire realm all arise. This wrong view is focused on the desire realm, because that karma is practiced in desire. Hell is also only there.

Therefore. Those who speculate on the past, those who say it is permanent, and those who say that it arises from no cause, for those who are free from desire, the view that arises in relation to the desire realm is stated in the Brahma Net Sutra. Among them, those who speculate on the past and say it is permanent, the majority will be shown only as an example. Here, whether a renunciate or a Brahmin lives in a forest, or lives under a tree, or lives in an empty room, by the cause of practice, the cause of abandonment, the cause of repeated action, and the cause of good conduct, the mind is placed in equanimity, and by what means can one perfectly recall twenty kalpas of destruction and formation? In this way, one will touch the peace of the mind's samadhi, and one will think, "I and this world are permanent." Thus it is said. Therefore, if one sees permanence in this way, when focusing on oneself and the world, one is focusing on the desire realm. Similarly, others who speculate on the past and say it is permanent also focus on the desire realm. Now, starting from those who say it is permanent, monks, the world is destroyed, and so on, extensively, any sentient being whose life is exhausted, whose merit is exhausted, and whose karma is exhausted, having passed away from that place, will be born in a share equal to that of humans. They gradually grow up, and when their senses are fully developed, they shave their hair and beard, put on dyed clothes, and with faith, they go forth from home to homelessness, whether they live in a forest, or live under a tree, or live in an empty room, and so on, up to the cause of practice. Extensively, the mind is placed in equanimity, and by what means can one recall the previous body? In this way, one will touch the peace of the mind's samadhi, and one will think, "Whoever is the Brahma who emanates us, this is permanent, stable, real, and of unchanging nature. We who are emanated by Brahma, those are impermanent, unstable, unreal, and of changing nature." Thus one will think.

It is also said that there is such a time. Thus, some are permanent, some are impermanent, which is the initial destruction. What do they rely on, and where do they dwell? Relying on what individually do they speculate on the past? They say that some of the self and the world are permanent, and some are impermanent, and they manifestly say so. This view of clinging to extremes is focused on the desire realm, because one is born in the desire realm and clings to impermanence. Now, it is spoken by making it subject to arising from no cause. How so? After speaking extensively, there are gods in the form realm called the No-Thought Heaven. Those sentient beings generate thought and die from that place. Then, any sentient being whose life is exhausted, whose merit is exhausted, and whose karma is exhausted, dies from that place and is reborn in a place like this, equal to humans. That person gradually grows up, and when the faculties are fully mature, he shaves his hair and beard, puts on clothes of changed color, and with faith, goes forth from home to homelessness. It is also acceptable to live in a secluded place, and it arises from extensive speech. How does one remember the arising of thought in the past through meditative stabilization? In this way, one touches the peaceful meditative stabilization of the mind, and then he thinks: "The self and the world also arise from no cause. I was not born before, and I am not born now." And so on. Therefore, this wrong view of slandering the cause is focused on the desire realm, because the self born here particularly clings to the causelessness. Furthermore, how does this become a wrong view? Because it slanders the causes of the self and the world's previous good and bad deeds. In order to eliminate the idea that the views of those who are free from desire from the desire realm are only practiced in the form realm, it is said that they are practiced in the form realm, and so on. Because of being free from desire. The afflictions of the upper ground are not focused on the lower ground, because of being free from desire. This is the desire of the outsiders.
