Because of clinging to the extreme of annihilation, wrongly focusing solely on suffering, therefore, seeing suffering should be abandoned. The so-called "wrong view has four types" is because it begins to slander the nature of truths such as suffering, so it produces wrong views on all four truths, therefore, seeing the four truths should be abandoned. Similarly, clinging to views as supreme also has four types, because this is regarding the inferior as superior. Similarly, doubt also has the nature of doubting everything, therefore it produces wrong views on everything, so seeing the four truths should be abandoned. The so-called "clinging to precepts and asceticism as supreme has two types," clinging to non-causes such as Ishvara as the true cause arises from the inverted views of permanence and self, therefore seeing suffering should be abandoned. Clinging to the non-path as the path is what should be abandoned by seeing the path. The so-called "what are those" refers to the five types of desire etc. that are shown. The so-called "which are the objects to be abandoned by seeing what" will be explained in detail, which desires etc. take the view that suffering should be abandoned as the object, those are what should be abandoned by seeing suffering, and so on, taking the view that the path should be abandoned as the object, those are what should be abandoned by seeing the path. It will be shown in this way that the view of the aggregates etc. takes suffering etc. as the object. Those views of the aggregates etc. take desire etc. as the object. Those views of the aggregates etc. are also what should be abandoned by seeing, therefore, the desires etc. that take those as the object will also be what should be abandoned by seeing, because the sutra says: understanding the object, and the correct cessation of it. The so-called "the rest are what should be abandoned through cultivation" refers to desire, anger, pride, and ignorance, those that have form etc. as the object, therefore do not take the view of the aggregates etc. as the object, those are what should be abandoned through cultivation. Except for anger, those themselves are. The so-called form realm.

, because the continuum is moistened by tranquility, because it is reliable, and because it has no basis for increase. If anger arises towards the feeling of suffering, that is supreme, therefore anger is impossible. Thus, in the Abhidharma texts, those six subtle increases are called ninety-eight kinds by the distinctions of type, difference, and realm. The distinction of type exists only in views, i.e., "self and mine, permanence and annihilation, etc." This verse should be explained. The distinction of difference is from the category of what is abandoned by seeing suffering to what is abandoned by cultivation. The distinction of realm is practicing in the desire realm, form realm, and formless realm. Attachment, anger, pride, ignorance, and doubt, etc., because they are of the same type, there is no distinction of type, because the nature of attachment, anger, arrogance, obscurity, and doubt itself is not different in sequence. For anger, there is also no distinction of realm, because there is no anger in the form realm and formless realm. There is only the distinction of difference, because it is what is abandoned by seeing and cultivation. For the others, there are distinctions of realm and difference. For the subtle increase of views, all three exist. If the sutras do not say that there are seven subtle increases, why are there said to be ninety-eight kinds? Because in other sutras, the Blessed One extensively said that there are defilements to be abandoned by seeing, and there are also defilements to be abandoned by cultivation. In "Born from the peak of existence, destroyed by patience," saying the peak of existence is to distinguish it from other grounds. Saying patience is to eliminate what is abandoned by cultivation. To avoid confusion with Dharma-patience, it is said to be destroyed by subsequent knowledge-patience. Because there is no worldly path that is the antidote to the peak of existence, therefore, what is born from the peak of existence and destroyed by patience is the realm of what is abandoned by seeing, not what is abandoned by cultivation. The remaining grounds refer to anything from the desire realm, etc.
