Napa said. For the sake of oneself and others, for the sake of both. These will be elaborated in detail. Because one sees the two benefits, one gives alms, that is, to accumulate virtuous deeds for oneself, and to benefit the great development of the senses of the recipient. There are two kinds of almsgivers: those with afflictions and those without afflictions. Those with afflictions are also divided into two types: those who are free from desire and those who are not free from desire. Those who are free from desire are also divided into two types: noble ones and ordinary beings. Those who are not free from desire are also of two types. Among them, the noble one is free from desire, or the ordinary person is free from desire and gives alms to the stupa, which is only for his own benefit. This will accumulate two kinds of roots of virtue, namely, becoming a resource with great fruits and obtaining the most excellent meaning. The noble one is free from desire and gives alms to other sentient beings, because he has transcended the category of its maturation. The noble one who is free from desire does not have great fruits, but for the recipient, in this way, great development exists, so it is for the benefit of others, and there is no benefit of one's own. The noble one is free from desire, or the ordinary person is free from desire and gives alms to other sentient beings, which is for the benefit of both, that is, for the almsgiver to accumulate roots of virtue, and to benefit the great development of the senses of the recipient. The noble one is free from desire and makes offerings to the stupa, almsgiving is not experienced in the visible dharma, nor is it for the benefit of both, because for the stupa and so on, there is no benefit to the great development of the senses, and it is completely beyond the category of its maturation. The category of the maturation of almsgiving is the desire realm, if the noble one's freedom from desire is completely beyond the desire realm, therefore it is not for the benefit of both. Hearing and so on.

The term "having qualities," etc., is a collection of wisdom, small desire, etc. Some givers give without having established the connection between cause and effect. Some give while maintaining discipline. Some give while violating discipline. Some give after hearing many teachings of the Tathagata. Some give while having heard very little, and so on. In this way, the giver, being superior due to faith, discipline, learning, etc., their giving also becomes superior in its results due to the superiority of the giver. Such a giver, giving with respect, etc., shows that from the superiority of the action, the result will also be more superior. It becomes four kinds of superiority: giving with respect will gain respect. Giving with one's own hands will gain faith in vast enjoyment. Giving at the right time will be obtained when one can enjoy the enjoyment and not miss the time. Giving without harming others will gain enjoyment that is not hindered by kings, thieves, enemies, fire, and water. How to become a superior giver, etc., will be explained in detail. Here, the giver surpasses the faithless with faith, etc., and similarly, giving with respect, etc., can also make the giver surpass the disrespectful, etc. Touching at the right time will turn into a comfortable body, that is, warm when it is cold, cold when it is warm, and staying normal at ordinary times. The recipient makes the field of merit superior, but not because of qualities, because it is said in the sutras that it is the same for those who break their vows. Then, apart from the ripening result becoming a thousandfold, there is no other difference. It should be said similarly to others as well. Thus, what arises from matter, etc., will be explained in detail, here, the receiver is always oppressed by suffering

Because taming oneself is the vessel of the Dharma of merit, the fruit of the benefactor becomes particularly excellent. The word "such and so on" means that if one gives to those who have entered the stream, the ripening result is immeasurable. Similarly, giving to those who have entered the stream is extremely immeasurable, and even giving to arhats is extremely immeasurable. If one offers to solitary realizers and tathagatas, arhats, perfectly complete buddhas, what need is there to mention it? In short, it becomes more immeasurable than immeasurable, like the water of the Ganges and the ocean. Furthermore, how does this ripening result become a hundredfold or immeasurable? The extent to which the life of the recipient, such as through alms, increases, is it a hundredfold or a thousandfold? Or immeasurably, among gods and humans, the life of the benefactor and so on manifestly comes to fruition. Thus, the Bhagavan said, "The benefactor, the giver, when giving food to the recipients, gives five places," from the extensive explanation up to "by giving life, one will obtain the life of gods and humans." For example, parents and so on are extensively explained. Having seen the result of harming benefactors, one should infer the result of benefiting benefactors. Jataka tales of bears and deer and so on can be used as examples. Just as the Dharma giving is said to be the most excellent of all material gifts, this material gift is also excellent, that is, from liberation to liberation. This is excellent because both the benefactor and the recipient become excellent, and because it is not held by greed. Bodhisattvas and so on, this is also for the benefit of all sentient beings, and because it is embraced by great compassion, and because it is not tainted by greed, it is excellent. The meaning of the adornment of the mind and so on appears. The meaning of the adornment of the mind refers to being able to attract wealth such as faith. The meaning of the equipment of the mind refers to being contrary to the stain of stinginess.
