The two are not the same, because it is said that it is only because of the difference between the same and the different. Killing and so on, which are pleasing, are said to be the fruits of the same kind because they are similar. As for "without glory," glory is in the direction of the heart. As for "others should also apply in the same way," not taking what is given will cause suffering to the owner of the item, be deprived of enjoyment, and become without glory. Because if one becomes glorious by virtue of an item, then its cause is eliminated. Because one is deprived of enjoyment, one will be harmed. Committing adultery with another's wife will cause suffering to others, make them have a hostile wife, and in the world, what is glory? Who has glory? Because these must be said, it is to make them lose glory. Similarly, others should also be applied to the extent possible, this is only one aspect. As for "reversing everything from the unwholesome and applying it," by abandoning killing, one will not cause suffering to others, not kill, not make them lose glory, therefore three fruits will arise. Similarly, by abandoning not taking what is given, one will not cause suffering to the owner of the item, not deprive them of enjoyment, not make them lose glory, therefore three fruits will arise. By abandoning sexual misconduct, one will not cause suffering to others, not make them have a hostile wife, not make them lose glory, therefore three fruits will arise. The others also apply in the same way. In the chapter on karma, this should also be examined, and what the Blessed One said will be explained in detail. As for "showing separately from the two," it means that wrong livelihood is separated from wrong speech and the two extremes of action. If it is said in this way, then the actions of body and speech that arise from attachment, which are wrong speech and the extremes of action, are also wrong livelihood. Those that are caused by hatred and ignorance are only wrong speech and the extremes of action. The

That which is called "can take away" means that even if the Dharma of attachment is subtle, it can still take away (virtuous Dharma). Even for those who are very wise, it is not easy to guard against, therefore it is difficult to tame. Why is it difficult for householders to tame their views? Because they always hold various kinds of views, such as: strange, auspicious, constellations, astrology, momentary, and so on. This is what is called "holding various views." "Relying on others for livelihood" means that the clothes, food, bedding, etc., needed by monks to maintain their bodies all depend on others, so these monks who depend on others find it difficult to tame their lives. "Because of fully enjoying perverse places" means because of fully enjoying places that are not allowed. In the chapter on karma, all matters related to karma must be stated, so it is said, "What are the five fruits mentioned above?" namely: Adhipati-phala (dominant fruit), Puruṣakāra-phala (fruit of effort), Sadrśa-phala (fruit of similarity), Vipāka-phala (fruit of maturation), and Visaṃyoga-phala (fruit of separation). "The paths of abandonment with defilements" means that the paths of abandonment are of two types, with outflows and without outflows, therefore it is said "with defilements." "Because it is the path of abandonment" means that abandonment is the cessation of individual self-realization. What is meant by "therefore it can abandon afflictions" is to cut off attainment. Although the way the words are combined here is different, the meaning has not changed, because in either case, it is connected to the path of non-interruption. "The maturation belonging to one's own ground is pleasing" means that the fruit of maturation must be maturation, that is, the karma of the path with outflows, and it can only be determined in the ground to which it belongs. "Similar dharmas arising from samadhi are the later ones" means that the fruit of similarity is the similar, same, or superior dharma that arises from it later. "The fruit of effort is the dharmas that arise by its power." "Abandonment is also like that" means that because abandonment is attained by its power, abandonment is also established as the fruit of effort. Others

Furthermore, it is said that abandonment is also a result of the master of the path, because it is through reliance on it that it is made manifest. The statement "except for the result of complete maturation" means that there is no result of complete maturation for the uncontaminated. The result corresponding to the cause is all the later dharmas that arise from samadhi. The result of separation is separation alone. The result of the agent is this determined dharma, such as the path of liberation, and that which arises simultaneously with it, and whatever will be attained in the future, and that abandonment as well. The result of the master is all conditioned phenomena other than one's own nature, except for what has arisen previously. The statement "other than the path of abandonment" means whatever is included in application and liberation, and the special path, and whatever is generosity of mind, etc., and whatever is non-virtuous. The statement "except for the result of separation" means that it is not the abandonment of afflictions, because only the uninterrupted path is related to the result of separation. Its result of complete maturation is the result of complete maturation belonging to its own ground, agreeable and disagreeable, because it is virtuous with contamination, and because it is non-virtuous. The result corresponding to the cause is all the similar, equal, and superior dharmas that arise later. The result of the agent is all those that arise simultaneously with it and arise by its power. The result of the master is all conditioned phenomena other than one's own nature, except for what has arisen previously. The statement "the remainder of the uncontaminated" means that which is included in application, liberation, and the special path, because it is not the uninterrupted path, so there is no result of separation, and because it is uncontaminated, and because it is unstated, there is no result of complete maturation either. Here also, the result corresponding to the cause
