The root of virtue, like that of the earth, is increased. In the phrase "liberation, etc.," the word "etc." includes the spheres of overcoming, etc. In the phrase "for the sake of realizing qualities such as freedom from affliction," the word "etc." includes knowledge of past lives and discriminating awareness, etc. How does that occur? That is, the complete transformation of things, that is, any thing changes according to one's desire, just as barley is turned into gold. Blessing is to keep the indicated thing unchanged for only a short time. In the phrase "giving up life, etc.," the word "etc." includes Mount Meru entering into atoms, etc. Why are only the third and eighth mentioned? This is explained in detail: "Having realized the beautiful liberation with the body and abiding in it," the act of realization is explained in the third liberation. And in the eighth liberation, "Having extinguished perception and feeling, having realized it with the body and abiding," the act of realization is also explained. In that, "having realized" means having realized directly. "Having perfected" means having entered into samadhi, that is, having entered into equipoise. The phrase "because it is the main one and because it abides at the edge of the realm and the ground" means that the third is the main one because the first and second are not as good as the third, because through the way of transformation, all the obscurations of the form liberation are abandoned. Although it is a beautiful liberation, afflictions do not arise. Therefore, the act of realization is explained in the third liberation. Similarly, because it is the main one, the act of realization is also explained in the eighth liberation. Thus, through the way of transformation, all the obscurations of the formless realm are abandoned, therefore it is more important than the others. The fourth dhyana is the edge and ground of the form realm, it is the edge of the form grounds, and because the third liberation exists there, it is only there that the act of realization is explained. Similarly, the peak of existence is the edge and ground of the realm, it is the edge of the formless grounds, liberation

Because transformation is also within its scope, it is explicitly stated for that reason. Others say that other sutras state that everything should be done manifestly. The sutra says that eight dharmas are to be done manifestly, which are the eight liberations. It is also said that these eight liberations, whether in accordance with the Dharma or not, are fully dwelt upon after being manifestly done by the body. That's what they say. That is not the case, because apart from these two sutras, all other sutras only speak of doing manifestly to two, therefore the question and answer are reasonable. Similarly, the so-called "great ones" and so on, refers to internally conceiving as having form, to external forms, great, good and bad colors, etc., this is the overcoming, which occurs between the second birth place. Similarly, the so-called internally conceiving as formless, if asked: How is it? Internally conceiving as formless, to external forms, small, good colors. Bad colors, etc., are the same as before, this is the overcoming, the third birth place. Internally conceiving as formless, to external forms, great, good and bad colors, etc., are extensively explained, those are four. The so-called just conceiving as formless, if asked: How is it extensively explained? Internally conceiving as formless, to external forms, blue, appearing as blue, emitting blue light, for example, flax flowers, or very fine blue cloth from Varanasi, appearing as blue, emitting blue light, etc., looking at these forms, and overcoming these forms and knowing, overcoming and seeing, conceiving like this, this is the fifth overcoming. Internally conceiving as formless, to external forms, yellow, etc., extensively explained, for example, Dongga flowers, or very fine yellow cloth from Varanasi, etc., extensively explained, this is the sixth overcoming. Internally conceiving as formless, to external forms, red, etc., from extensively explained

For example, the bandhuka flower, or up to the red, exquisite silk of the Varanasi region, broadly speaking, this is called the seventh overcoming source. Recognizing the inner formlessness, starting from the outer white form, as before. For example, the morning star, or the white, exquisite silk of the Varanasi region, broadly speaking. Because the object is overcoming, they are overcoming sources. In all respects, even if the object is extremely rich, it can overcome the root of virtue that accomplishes manifest colors and so on. Just as a servant adorned with various jewels is overcome by a lord. The so-called small refers to the object being small, or the power being small. Regarding the so-called good color and so on, some say that attachment does not arise for good colors, and anger does not arise for bad colors, and this is what overcoming is here. Others say that if that were the case, the overcoming sources would become the nature of non-attachment and non-anger, therefore, the meaning here is that after overcoming good and bad colors, just like bad colors, good colors are also seen in the same way as unpleasant images, thereby reaching the same taste, and this is the way to control this mind. Knowing after overcoming is what is to be known. The so-called seeing after overcoming refers to those yogis who have perfected the reason for it. The so-called becoming aware in this way means thinking, "I know after overcoming, I see after overcoming." The greatness of the second overcoming source refers to the object being large, or the power being great. The rest is the same as the first. Two of them are like the first liberation, which means in terms of the difference of nature and form, like the first liberation. These two overcoming sources should also be viewed in the same way in terms of the difference of nature, ground, and form. These two are also the fruit of the first liberation. The so-called "two are like the second" means those who recognize the inner formlessness and focus on the small and the large.
