The cause of transformation, the difference in ability, is habit. Or, to whom do the Shravakas belong? The Shravakas belong to the Buddha, the Bhagavan, not to others. Why is that? Because all the Shravakas are ordained under the authority of the Buddha, the Bhagavan. Only on that will it not arise, what is said is to indicate to whom those Shravakas belong. The "that" refers to the wonder that those, such as joy, do not arise. If it is not so, that is, if, like compassion, it is the nature of non-hatred, or the nature of being without outflows. It is not possible to focus on all sentient beings, and like compassion, it cannot become the form of the three sufferings, what is said is, if one wants to, like what is desired, focus on the sentient beings in the realm of experience, may it also transform like this, that is what is thought. It will also not become the form of the three sufferings, then what will it become? It will only become the form of suffering suffering, for example, like compassion. Flawless knowledge also cannot enter in that way, therefore, great compassion is the nature of conventional knowledge. Adding the word "great" is to show why it says "why is this" and so on. In order to truly accomplish the great accumulation of merit and wisdom, what is said is, because the great result is preceded by the great cause. Among them, the great accumulation of merit is the paramita of generosity, discipline, and patience. Wisdom is the paramita of wisdom. The two paramitas of diligence and meditation are both forms, because there is the saying that "without meditation there is no wisdom." Without diligence, one will not practice generosity, nor will one properly observe discipline, nor will one cultivate patience. In this way, diligence is in accordance with the part of the accumulation of merit. Similarly, without diligence, there is no wisdom, so it will also be in accordance with the part of the great accumulation of wisdom. Because of realizing the three sufferings, this shows that the very appearance of greatness is greatness, because it focuses on sentient beings in the three realms.

This phrase indicates the greatness of the object. The phrase "entering similarly" indicates that it is great depending on the excellent distinction. The phrase "most great" means that there is nothing greater than it, which explains the reversal of order with "extreme" and "successive extreme." Just as compassion acts with compassion, so does he, and for these two, not seeing a difference, what is there to distinguish? This is the question. To distinguish is to differentiate. The phrase "because it is the nature of non-anger and non-ignorance" means that compassion is the nature of non-anger, and great compassion is the nature of non-ignorance. The phrase "because it has the aspect of one and three sufferings" means that compassion has the aspect of one suffering, and great compassion has the aspect of three sufferings. The phrase "because it focuses on sentient beings of one and three realms" means that compassion focuses on sentient beings of one realm, and great compassion focuses on sentient beings of three realms. Starting from "ground," compassion is the ground of the four dhyanas. Here, unobstructedness and special dhyana are not mentioned separately because they belong to the category of the first dhyana. Great compassion is the ground of the fourth dhyana. Starting from "Shravaka," the word "etc." includes worldly beings and solitary realizers. The phrase "because it is obtained by being free from desire from the desire realm and the peak of existence" means that compassion is obtained by being free from desire from the desire realm, and great compassion is obtained by being free from desire from the peak of existence, which are the four, such as the knowledge of exhaustion and power. The phrase "not completely protecting and completely protecting" means that compassion for Shravakas, etc., is only feeling sorry for suffering sentient beings, but they cannot protect them from suffering. The phrase "acting with compassion differently and similarly" means that compassion only acts with compassion for those who are suffering, while great compassion is for all sentient beings.
