The meaning of "because there is no mundane path" is: the path included by the proximate attainment of the higher ground of the mundane path is the antidote to the lower ground. Above the peak of existence, there is no ground. The meaning of "because it is not the antidote to one's own ground" is: why is it not the antidote? Because it will increase its afflictions, so it is said. Because it increases the afflictions of one's own ground, subtle increases pervade, and the afflictions that should be abandoned by cultivation increase. Which afflictions increase on what things? Which afflictions increase on what things, then that thing is not what eliminates it, for example, the desire realm is like being in harmony with the afflictions of its own ground, because it is in harmony with its arising. What is the antidote to whom, then afflictions will not increase on it, because it is the cause of reducing it. For example, the afflictions of the lower ground will not increase on the higher ground. Therefore, only the supramundane path can reasonably separate desire from the peak of existence. What is called "other than the peak of existence" is the eight grounds (referring to the desire realm, form realm, formless realm). What is called "also by the mundane path" is because everything has the proximate attainment of the higher ground. What is called "also by the supramundane path" is because the supramundane path is the antidote to one's own and the higher ground. What is called "the attainment of two kinds of separation arises" is: the Vaibhashikas say that because the activity is not common, the activity here is to eliminate afflictions. What is called "also by the supramundane" is: for example, because the activity is the same, the mundane path causes the noble one to separate from desire is the attainment of two kinds of separation, just like that,

It is not based on special meditation, because relying on it to transform faculties is an enhancing cause. Here, saying it is based on meditation is just an example. It is said that a trainee relies on the six grounds to transform the faculties. The so-called "therefore abandoning the previous path," the previous path refers to the path of the fruit of non-return, and the antidote between it and the realm of nothingness, beyond which there is nothing more excellent. The so-called "solely obtaining the fruit path" means that he abandons the excellent path held by dull faculties and solely obtains the fruit path held by sharp faculties. Because it is said in the sutra: increasing with the excellence of the fruit, abandoning it, one will obtain the fruit. The so-called "will also become without the liberation from the afflictions of the upper ground," above the desire realm refers to from the first dhyana onwards, up to the realm of nothingness, and will become without the liberation from the afflictions of its ground. The so-called "if abandoning it" means if abandoning the liberation from the afflictions of the upper ground. The so-called "will also become with those afflictions" refers to those afflictions of the upper ground. It is said in the sutra: from the half-liberation of the peak of existence, like one born above does not possess. The so-called "from the half-liberation of the peak of existence" means that among the eight aspects of the peak of existence, whichever one who is free from desire transforms the faculties, then he will not obtain worldly liberation with those eight aspects. Why not? Because the worldly path cannot become the antidote to the peak of existence.

Having become detached from desire from the realm of desire, there is the attainment of detachment, both mundane and supramundane. Among these, the attainment of detachment from the afflictions that operate in the desire realm of the mundane is abandoned by those born above the first dhyana ground of the noble ones, but not the supramundane. Even if the supramundane exists, it is not associated with those. Ordinary beings are not like that, therefore ordinary beings are mentioned. Therefore, if it is thought that there is no attainment of detachment here, then it will not be associated with those afflictions that operate in the desire realm, just as it is acknowledged, this person will also become like that, because having abandoned, it is not associated with afflictions. "Because of abandoning, it is not associated with afflictions." This is not an act of wisdom. "Immaculate, invincible, From all detached from desire, Even to the peak of existence." This means from the lower and upper grounds. Why? Because the immaculate is not associated. Surpassing the three grounds and beyond, detachment from desire from the third dhyana and so on is attained by the access concentrations of the fourth dhyana and so on. There, there is no difference in feeling between the access concentration and the main concentration, because there is no difference in the faculty of equanimity. Therefore, here, a person with sharp or dull faculties, thinking that there is a difference in the ground of detachment from desire, only from the main concentration manifests the final path of liberation. "In the third dhyana" and so on are explained extensively, in the access concentrations there is the feeling of equanimity, and from the main concentrations of the dhyanas, in the second there is joy, and in the third there is pleasure. Among these, some people, because they have dull faculties, are unable to abandon the faculties, so they only manifest the final path of liberation from the access concentration, while those who are able to do so manifest it from the main concentration, so there is no fault in this. "Eight noble ones surpass their own upper ground." This is said. Not from the lower ground, because they have already been detached from desire. It means that in the lower ground, they have not been detached from desire, so they cannot manifest that ground. Because they focus on the truth, they are those who have entered the aspect of truth.
