Moreover, abandoning the practices of desiring unwholesome deeds and the unspecified practices in the form and formless realms. The phrase "obtaining two or three fruits through the conduct of a renunciate" refers to the once-returner obtaining the fruits of the non-returner and the Arhat. It is necessary to obtain two fruits of the renunciate's conduct. The stream-enterer must obtain three fruits: the once-returner, the non-returner, and the fruit of the Arhat. The phrase "completely transcending the three realms" means being free from desire in the three realms. The statement "it is not possible while dwelling in the intermediate existence" means that in the state of the intermediate existence, it is not possible because of weakness and not staying for a long time. The statement "first, cultivate the fourth [dhyana]" means that it is suitable for all of them. Because after it manifests, it increases through reliance and obtains a special distinction. It is called "increasing joy, suitable for practice." It is suitable for everything because everything is the supreme bliss of thorough training. The statement "it is the most excellent among the easy paths" means that the easy paths are the four dhyanas, and among those easy paths, the fourth dhyana is the most excellent. The term "alternating" means mixed, like an alternating garland of flowers. The statement "two moments are like a path because there is no interruption" refers to the uncontaminated and the contaminated. The statement "the third is like a path of liberation" refers to the uncontaminated. Regarding the phrase "also returning from being destroyed by afflictions," the word "also" is because of being born in the Pure Abodes and also for dwelling happily in the present dharma. The statement "because of not completely degenerating through the extended samadhi that is like tasting flavor," if asked how, it is because of extending the samadhi that is like tasting flavor by cultivating alternation. In that way, for those with afflictions, the corresponding immediate condition will be eliminated. For the Arhat with sharp faculties, because birth and complete degeneration are impossible, it is solely for the purpose of dwelling happily in the present dharma. Faculties

Since an illusionist cannot have only one life, it is also to enable them to abide in bliss in the present dharma. The terms "small" and "medium" will be explained extensively. The distinctions of that meditation are fivefold: small, medium, large, very large, and extremely large. The first, saying "manifesting three minds," means that the capacity of that person is limited to that extent. Similarly, it should also be stated for the subsequent ones. The second, saying "six," refers to the absence of outflows, the presence of outflows, the absence of outflows, again the absence of outflows, the presence of outflows, and the absence of outflows. The nine minds, twelve minds, and fifteen minds should also be counted in the same way. Among them, what is "with outflows"? Because the absence of outflows is the antidote, it does not project existence. Thus, because there are five types of causes, there are also five types of results, therefore there are only five births in the Pure Abodes. Saying "because of the excess of the faculty of faith, etc." is said by the venerable Shri Hualing, the cause of the first Pure Abode is the excess of the faculty of faith, up to the fifth, which is the faculty of wisdom, therefore there are five Pure Abodes. Saying "because of the excess of the faculty of faith, etc." is not like that, what is it then? All five, faith, etc., are divided into five types in the manner of a bundle of grass, that is, they are divided into five types in the order of small, medium, large, very large, and extremely large. Therefore, there are only five Pure Abodes, the abode of the non-returners, the pure ones, is the Pure Abode. The term "any non-returner" refers to one who is liberated by faith or attained by sight. It is similar to nirvana. Saying "is" means that just as nirvana is the cessation of all dharmas, it is peaceful because it is of the nature of quiescence, similarly, the absorption of cessation is also peaceful because it is contrary to the cessation of mind and mental events, therefore it is similar to nirvana. Saying "because it arises in dependence on the body" means that that dharma is without mind, because it arises in dependence on the body, the statement "arising from that cessation" will occur, even if it has ceased, it is said to have attained cessation by the power of attaining it.
