It will increase greatly. As for the phrase "in order to distinguish," what effort is made in order to distinguish? The answer is, effort is made in order to obtain the fruit. Similarly, other fruits should also be applied in the same way, namely, the fruit of once-returner and the fruit of non-returner. Why is it that even though seven and eight qualities have been abandoned by the worldly path, the sixteen minds are called the fruit of once-returner, but are not called entering the position of non-returner? Because of what? "Because of the distinction of obtaining the fruit and the fruit, and because the path is not obtained." Similarly, in the desire realm, even if one is free from desire from the realm of desire up to the space of nothingness, the sixteen minds are only called non-returner, but are not called entering the position of Arhat? Because of what? Because of the distinction of obtaining the fruit and the fruit, it should be widely applied. If someone is free from desire in the third dhyana and relies on the lower ground, this refers to any place from the unobstructed and so on up to the second dhyana. Because they do not have the feeling of pleasure. This is only born in the desire realm, because there is no path of seeing above. This will surely manifest the path of the special fruit, that is, the uncontaminated ground of the third dhyana. If it is not so, then the noble one born above it, that is, born in the fourth dhyana or the formless realms above the third dhyana, will not possess the feeling of pleasure. Therefore, by changing the ground, he abandons the contaminated third dhyana, and since he has not manifested the uncontaminated, he will simultaneously possess both the contaminated and uncontaminated feeling of pleasure. The noble one born in the upper realm is definitely said to possess the feeling of pleasure, because it is said in the sutras that the feeling of pleasure is not possessed by the ordinary beings born in the fourth dhyana and the formless realms, but the noble ones do possess it. Others say that although this is written in the commentary, it is obviously not an established view, because it says "others say".

The so-called "noble one possesses the power of truth" is said to be merely explained from the perspective of existence. Thus, for the time being, the classification of individuals who mostly are free from attachment to actions and desires, those who are mostly free from attachment to actions, and those who enter into the certainty of being free from attachment, has been explained. The statement "it is impossible to be the Great Vehicle path from the very beginning" means that the continuum of the initial practitioner is defiled by afflictions, and therefore it is mentioned, "for the arising of the Great Vehicle path," and so on. The statement "that is the nature of an example" means that this is a detailed classification of the nature of an example. Therefore, in this way, it indicates that other examples should also be stated in this manner. If it were not so, it would be stated as "this is an example." The statement "samsara, which has been propagated through continuity since beginningless time" means that samsara, which has been propagated through continuity since beginningless time and has been beneficial, is therefore called "great." Because these have measure, that is, they have volume and space. The statement "in order to eliminate those afflictions from the root" means in order to cut off attainment, because afflictions depend on it, therefore attainment is consistent with the root. It is like a small poison, a single dose can produce many faults, and like a momentary flame, it can destroy great darkness. If at most there are seven rebirths, then at most it is the seventh time. The word "at most" means "extremely." If it were not so, it would show that not all will be devoured, therefore, the statement "the worst of all" appears. The statement "then to be liberated from there" means to go to nirvana from that path. Regarding the statement "in order to obtain the first path," the first path is the path of seeing. The statement "it will also become the eighth" means starting from the Arhat, if counted in reverse order, then among the eight types of individuals, following the different entries, in order to manifest the fruit of stream-entry, following the path and following the Dharma is the eighth.
