What is meant by "two"? It refers to the prevention of individual births through the excellence of worldly dharmas and forbearance. How so? It is stated that it is because it is in accordance with the path of non-interruption and the path of liberation. The excellence of worldly dharmas is similar to the path of non-interruption, because they are contrary to attaining (liberation). The forbearance of knowing the dharma of suffering is similar to the path of liberation, because they arise simultaneously with the lack of (liberation). Thereafter, with regard to "in that itself is dharma-knowledge," dharma-knowledge is merely to ascertain and grasp the dharma. With regard to "because it is initially knowing the suchness of the dharma," the suchness of contaminated dharmas, because it is non-inverted, is impermanence and suffering, and so on. In order to realize it, it is called the dharma-knowledge of suffering, in order to make the word of suchness not obvious. Similarly, one should state appropriately with regard to the origin, and so on. Although subsequent knowledge is also knowing the suchness of the dharma, it is not called dharma-knowledge because it is not initial. With regard to "because it arises from that cause," this is a synonym for "because it is the cause of that." Just as through dharma-knowledge, one comprehends and fully understands the truth of suffering, etc., in the desire realm in the aspects of suffering, etc., similarly, in order to comprehend the suffering practiced in the form and formless realms, it is subsequent knowledge. Thus, and so on, it is explained extensively. With regard to "the order of subsequent arising," it is the order of subsequent arising, that is, from then on. With regard to "the remainder," it refers to the origin practiced in the form and formless realms. Other schools, such as the school of the noble Dharma Protector, state that the direct realization of the truths is one. How so? According to some, merely by knowing suffering, one can realize the four noble truths, therefore, the direct realization is one, that is, the direct realization of one moment. Others say it is four moments, that is, for those who do not distinguish between meditative equipoise and non-meditative equipoise, there are four moments of knowing the four truths.

Some say there are eight, namely the distinctions of the truths of the desire realm, the form realm, and the formless realm, and the distinction of the knowledge that follows the Dharma, so there are eight. Some say there are twelve moments, namely that only in those eight moments do four other worldly knowledges arise. Thus, the views of other schools differ. This is called non-differentiated direct realization. The statement "That has three aspects" refers to: the direct realization of seeing, the direct realization of the object, and the direct realization of the activity. The statement "The direct realization of seeing is" means that seeing itself is direct realization, namely the direct realization of the truth. Just as without wisdom, the truths cannot be seen, therefore it is the direct realization of seeing. The statement "With uncontaminated wisdom, see the truths" is because it is said in the sutras: "Monks, whatever is seen with uncontaminated wisdom, that is seeing." The direct realization of the object is the direct realization of the object, where the object here is understood as grasping. If the object is grasping, then what is the difference between seeing and the object? Seeing is seeing only with wisdom, while the object is grasped by those that are congruent with wisdom, this is the difference. Therefore, having done so, the direct realization of the object is also by those that are congruent with it, it is said. The word "also" includes wisdom. Therefore, in this way, for the time being, whatever is seeing is also the object, while the object of feeling and so on is not seeing. The statement "The activity itself is direct realization" means: the direct realization of the activity, or whatever is the activity of the three truths, that is the activity, which will be explained later. In "non-congruent," the word "also" indicates congruence (with wisdom), as well as wisdom itself. The word "and so on" in "discipline and birth and so on" includes obtaining and abiding and so on. Because all co-arising phenomena are mutually active, therefore, co-arising phenomena other than obtaining, such as discipline and so on, are the cause of co-arising.
