So what is this? It is focused on one aspect of the form aggregate. Because impermanence and so on are pervasive, it is to abandon afflictions. To suppress desire with the impure, where does this come from? It says in the "Discipline of Young Monks": If one whose mind has not arisen wants to destroy desire, then he should go to the cemetery, then look at the scattered corpse, then look at the festering corpse, then look at the skin, bones, bone piles, etc. Because it says so. To focus the mind on one's own limbs is synonymous with "to make an object." Focusing the mind on a single toe, watching the toe rot and separate from the flesh, similarly, imagining the entire body becoming a pile of bones, imagining the entire earth up to the edge of the ocean filled with skeletons. Complete practice is like that up to half of the skull. Perfecting mindfulness is like that up to holding the mind between the eyebrows. If done that way, the fourfold question will arise. The detailed explanation of practicing mindfulness and not practicing mindfulness is that practicing mindfulness of the impure focused on one's own body is small because the object is small, but not because the power is small. Not practicing mindfulness focused on the edge of the ocean is small because the power is small, but not because the object is small. Not practicing mindfulness focused on one's own body is small because the object is small and the power is small. Practicing mindfulness focused on the edge of the ocean is not small because the object is small. Having proximity concentration and special meditation, having proximity concentration and special meditation means being together with proximity concentration and special meditation, which refers to the four dhyanas. In this way, the four proximity concentrations, the four dhyanas, the special meditation, and the desire realm become the ten grounds. In the formless realm, there is no mind that acts, because it is the appearance of the desire realm.

Because it is the object of focus. It has been said before that the formless realms are not focused on the desire realm. If so, then it is established that it is the ground of samadhi and non-samadhi. Therefore, what is meant by "focusing on meaning"? It means focusing on the appearance of the realm of activity in the desire realm. It only arises among humans, not in other realms. There is no need to mention other realms, because it is the cause of the noble path, so only this is certain to enter. The saying "not in Uttarakuru" is an exclusion of the general statement "it only arises among humans." It is not in Uttarakuru because there is no detachment there, and it is also a method of detachment. Initially, it only arises among humans, and what was previously generated is manifested among the gods. The saying "focusing on whatever time it is" is like eye consciousness, the object of the past is the past, and similarly, the object of the present is the present. The object of the unborn dharma nature is the three times. The future is not necessarily going to happen, nor is it certain to exist. That is certain for the object of the form element, but not certain for the moment of things and time. The saying "because aspiration is attention, therefore it is with outflows" means that the outflowless is the true attention. The saying "because of familiarity and unfamiliarity" means that familiarity is obtained through detachment. Unfamiliarity arises from practice. What exists in the continuum of ordinary beings is obtained through detachment because of familiarity in beginningless samsara. What exists in the continuum of noble ones arises from practice because of unfamiliarity. The saying "inhaling and exhaling" is explained in detail. The saying "those two" refers to inhaling and exhaling. The mindfulness that focuses on those is the mindfulness of inhaling and exhaling. The saying "like mindfulness" refers to

Just as the nature of wisdom, in order to generate the power of mindfulness, enters, so it is said that mindfulness of the body and so on is established. Similarly, mindfulness of breathing in and out, although it is the nature of wisdom, enters in order to generate the power of mindfulness, so it is called mindfulness of breathing in and out. Wisdom is what gathers all dharmas. The so-called three proximities refer to the proximities of the first, second, and third dhyanas. Why not the main practice? Because it is associated with equanimity. For example, the proximity of the first dhyana and so on has equanimity, while the proximity of the fourth dhyana does not have breathing in and out. Also, why must one grasp only what is associated with equanimity? Therefore, it is said, "Because it is associated with discrimination" and so on. The so-called "its antidote" refers to the antidote to discrimination, which is the nature of mindfulness of breathing in and out. The so-called "not associated with those" refers to pleasure and pain, etc. If it is said that it is associated with the joy of the second dhyana and the non-suffering pleasure of the third dhyana, then, therefore, it is said that "pleasure and joy, etc., also hinder arising," meaning that it is the enemy of tranquility. Breathing in and out is also to be accomplished through tranquility, because it is to be accomplished through tranquility. Mindfulness of breathing in and out is to be accomplished through tranquility, and the gathering, arising, tranquility, and focus of breathing in and out are different names. The so-called "eighth from those" refers to taking the ground of the third dhyana, and above that is not the ground of breathing in and out. The so-called "dependent on the desire realm" is because there is much discrimination there. Arising from effort means obtaining from effort, and obtaining from detachment from desire means obtaining from detachment from desire. These dharmas are only for these people,
