Because of arising. The teacher also said below it, in order to uphold the hearing that is in accordance with the realization of the truth, or to hear the meaning. Thinking, what if one cannot uphold the scriptures? In order to show how the wisdom arising from thinking focuses on both, it is said that sometimes words lead to meaning. Here, words clearly refer to names. Similarly, sometimes meaning leads to words, which is the meaning of the word "name." What is meant by not relying on words is relying on the meaning of names. Because words are used together with names, names are given words, or because this (word) can clarify the meaning, names are called words. The teacher elaborates on this, saying that the wisdom arising from thinking will not be accomplished, so what is it? It arises from hearing and contemplation. The so-called credible scripture refers to the words that have exhausted faults, namely the twelve divisions of the scriptures. The wisdom that arises from it is what arises from hearing. To analyze with reason and certainty is to analyze with certainty, and what arises from it is the wisdom arising from thinking. What arises from contemplation arises from samadhi. The so-called having two separations refers to having two separations and not being complete, that is, having two separations. What is it? Therefore, it is said, if it is to cut off the noise and unwholesome thoughts. To live without a companion is the separation of the body, and to abide well with mindfulness, abiding itself can cut off unwholesome thoughts, so it is the separation of the mind. Unwholesome thoughts are thoughts of desire, hatred, and harm, and not tending towards them is cutting off. Being unhappy with gaining what is not abundant and not numerous refers to unhappiness, which is a synonym for being discouraged and declining. Because it is not abundant or not numerous, gaining these and being unhappy is not knowing satisfaction, wanting to gain abundance and numerousness.

Wanting more is being insatiable, this is the view of the teachers. These two belong to the three realms and are without defilement. This is because they are the nature of non-attachment's virtuous roots. Not knowing contentment and being insatiable are only acting in desire, this is because attachment is the nature of non-virtuous roots. What is the connection of establishing the noble lineage? Like this, abiding in the qualities of cultivation, meditation will be perfected, and the qualities of cultivation are also included by the noble lineage. Furthermore, reducing desire and being content only exist in those who abide in the qualities of cultivation, not in others, therefore the difference between these two is shown through the door of the noble lineages. Being fond of renunciation and meditation, renunciation and meditation are renunciation and meditation. Being fond of it is being fond of renunciation and meditation. Because of being fond of this, it is fondness, its essence is being fond of renunciation and meditation. Renunciation and meditation mean separation and the path. Or, meditating for the sake of renunciation is the meditation of renunciation, being fond of the meditation of renunciation is being fond of the meditation of renunciation, meaning diligently habituating oneself to the method of manifesting the cessation of afflictions. Because of turning one's back on the attachment to existence and desire, one turns one's back on existence, and also turns one's back on the attachment to desire. Completely abandoning one's own conduct and the limits of one's work, is completely abandoning one's own conduct, and also completely abandoning the limits of one's own work. Among them, what one lives on is conduct, such as food, drink, and clothing, etc. The limits of work are the activities such as crafts for these. Another way is that conduct is relying on the king, etc., and the limits of work are plowing, etc. So, how does one completely abandon one's own conduct and the limits of one's work? It should be known that this is one's own conduct that is included in the household aspect, and is controlled by the limits of work. Like this, because of arising and ceasing, like this.

The word "bya ba" expresses various forms. Regarding the arising of various forms, thinking, "Alas, how wonderful it would be if I became an independent one! How wonderful it would be if I became a Chakravartin!" and so on, this is attachment. The attachment to destruction refers to the attachment to complete destruction, which is a technical term. Thinking, "Alas, how wonderful it would be if I were completely cut off after death! How wonderful it would be to disappear! How wonderful it would be not to appear!" and so on. The so-called "entering" is a technical term for "harmonious entering." The so-called "mindfulness is mindfulness" refers to the statement about things. It should have been said, "with mindfulness of breathing in and out," but it is said, "with mindfulness of breathing in and out," because such characteristics are also well known. Therefore, it is said, "mindfulness is mindfulness." The so-called "because one does not observe various things" is because the wind has no color or shape. Alternatively, because one only observes tangible things, because the wind has no color, etc. Meditating on impurity is because one observes bones, i.e., observing skeletons, etc., so it is observing color and shape. The so-called "because one does not look outward" should be understood in connection with "it is what cuts off conceptual thoughts." Although impurity is done with consciousness, it looks outward like eye consciousness. Why? Because it closely distinguishes its object, just as eye consciousness makes definite distinctions about its object. This is the meaning, but it is not because it possesses the same qualities. The so-called "completely devoured by worms" refers to being hollowed out by worms. The so-called "worms" refers to insects, referring to what is said up to "devoured by various worms." The so-called "because it is faith and temporary attention" means faith-based attention and temporary attention. This is attention primarily based on faith, but it is not just that kind of attention, because only that kind of attention can abandon afflictions. This attention is temporary and also not universal, because the contemplation of impurity does not take the five aggregates as its object.
