For this reason, this example is shown. Here, one should observe this meaning. Monks, the so-called five seed sequences are synonyms for consciousness together with grasping. The so-called earth element is a synonym for the four abodes of consciousness, as it is said. A seed is a cause. Whatever is a cause, that is an origin. Thus, at that time, consciousness is shown to be an origin. The abodes of consciousness are also shown to be the cause of dependence, so form, feeling, perception, and mental formations are also said to be origins. From the verses, karma and so on are also said to be causes, so it is established as an origin. Therefore, what is taught in the sutra is intentional. The so-called craving is an origin is taught because it depends on the difference of those to be tamed, and if it is made in terms of a person with excessive craving. The Dharma Abhidharma teaches that all contaminated things are origins, which is the nature. Now, in order to show that what is taught in the sutra of the Vaibhashikas is intentional, the cause of manifest accomplishment is also extensively mentioned. The cause of manifest accomplishment is the cause of merely obtaining self, so craving is a condition without distinction for all obtaining self. The so-called having the cause of birth and manifest accomplishment, obtaining self by the distinction of going and so on is birth, and the cause of birth there is karma. The cause of manifest accomplishment is craving. Also, the verses say that the cause of birth is karma, and the cause of manifest accomplishment is craving. How is this known? Therefore, the sutra says that karma is the cause of birth, and craving is the cause of manifest accomplishment, because it is said so. Alternatively, the sutra says having a cause, having a condition, having a basis, which is shown in order. Alternatively, the verses say that the wisdom of the lineage of causes shows that karma, craving, and ignorance are the causes of future actions, the causes of the eye and so on. From that order

How does this come about? Monks, the eye is with cause, with condition, and with basis. Monks, what is the cause of the eye? What is the condition? What is the basis? Monks, the cause of the eye is karma. The condition is karma. The basis is karma, so it is said. The cause of karma is craving, the cause of craving is ignorance, and the cause of ignorance is improper attention, and this is the same. Like "seeds and the substance of fields," etc., not only craving, but also consciousness, etc., are said to be the origin. Therefore, what is taught in the sutras is proven to be intentional. Like "by the distinction of forms such as birthplaces," etc., the word "etc." includes types, and forms such as men and women. Here it is shown that karma is also the very cause of the distinction and commonality of craving connecting continuity in existence. For example, "seeds," etc., are explained in detail, just as the seed of rice is the cause of the sprouting of rice, and the seed of barley is the cause of the sprouting of barley, etc. Water is indiscriminately the cause of the sprouting of rice, and similarly it is also the cause of the sprouting of barley, etc. Therefore, they are merely the cause of the sprouting of all sprouts. "Because of being without craving, there is no birth" means that because of being without craving, there is no birth; if it exists, it exists, and if it does not exist, it does not exist, therefore craving is understood to be the cause of the manifestation of birth. In order to distinguish it in detail, it is explained in detail starting from the death of both. Because of craving for objects such as form, together with craving, the continuum of consciousness is seen to repeatedly incline and enter. Also in existence
