Therefore, happiness is different from suffering, just like desire and hatred, etc. Just like desire and hatred, from their own different essence and different functions, it can be seen that things are different, and the own essence and function of suffering and happiness are also different. In this way, it is easy to understand, therefore, temporarily slandering happiness, one should ask this, this is a detailed explanation. If it is said what is the nature of harm, it is the nature of torment. If it is said what is harm, it is what causes harm to body and mind, that is the nature of harm. What is beneficial is happiness, this is established, because whatever is beneficial to body and mind, its function is different from suffering, so it is established as happiness. If it is said it is unwanted, it is because its own essence is unpleasant. What is wanted is happiness, this is established, because it has a pleasant own essence, so it is wanted, and its nature is different from suffering. How could it be just suffering? To explain that because it is impermanent, this is not its characteristic. If it is said that it is just wanting, this is a detailed explanation. Unwanted is because it is for other reasons. There is no confusion about what is beneficial, because for the noble ones, that is also beneficial. Another way, is that it is not its own essence, how to do it? Here it says the place of carelessness, because of the increase of desire. It needs to be accomplished with great diligence, that is, it needs to be accomplished with great effort. Having variability, because it is constantly changing, because just being weak, suffering will immediately arise. Impermanent, because it has momentary destruction, and the continuity is cut off. Because its own essence is unwanted, so like suffering, no one will generate desire for it, therefore, in order to get rid of desire from that, it will not be regarded as a fault from other aspects, just like suffering.

The phrase "only the Blessed One" is explained extensively, because it only shows the two kinds of suffering, saying "it is not considering the suffering of suffering" is said in this way. The nature of impermanent formations refers to things that previously existed or did not exist, arising dependent on causes and conditions, and is the nature of destruction in every moment. The so-called "nature of changing formations" refers to completely changing differently from before, which is a synonym for "becoming other," that is, immediately generating other feelings, or the feeling becomes weak. If everything is inherently suffering, then this sentence is explained extensively, in that case, someone would also ask: "What did the Blessed One consider when he spoke of the three feelings?" The Blessed One would also answer: "Noble One, any feeling is suffering." If so, I would not explain that I said it considering the nature of impermanent formations and the nature of change. Therefore, the statement that whatever is felt is suffering is intentional. Therefore, it is said intentionally, and the intention is formations and change, as mentioned before. The so-called "because it is the nature of change and impermanence" refers to because it is the nature of change, and because it is the nature of impermanence. Change is becoming other, and becoming other is immediately generating feelings of suffering or neither happiness nor suffering. The so-called "because of experiencing its taste" refers to because of experiencing the taste of happy feelings. The so-called "therefore, to be free from desire" refers to being free from desire for happy feelings. The so-called "its nature is happiness," how should this be understood? This sentence is explained extensively. Like this, this sentence is explained extensively, if the feeling of happiness is not also self-nature, then only the suffering of suffering would be shown as suffering, and the suffering of formations and change would not be shown as suffering. The merits of desire

That which is called "is" refers to objects such as form. That which is called "birth" refers to being born in a good realm, or being born in a bad realm such as the realm of earth deities. What does it mean to say "birth is also like that"? If there is much suffering, then to regard it as solely happiness is inverted, and should be understood in context. What merit is there? Because happiness and suffering, and neither happiness nor suffering, are spoken of, what merit is obtained? If it is said that it is spoken in accordance with the world, then if one thinks that feeling is spoken in accordance with the world, then this thought will change. That is not the case, because the Blessed One spoke considering that all feelings are suffering. How so? Ananda, whatever is felt, that is suffering here, this I have spoken considering the impermanence of formations and the change of formations. Therefore, it is not said that there are three feelings in accordance with the world, so what is it? Feelings have three only by their own nature. Furthermore, because it is said "as it is," the three feelings exist only in the ultimate truth, and not in accordance with the world. Again, how is it said as it is? What is the feeling of happiness, etc., will be explained in detail. Here is an example, just like that, seeing as it is with true wisdom. As it is refers to not adding or slandering. If there is only the feeling of suffering, then how can it be said to be as it is to see suffering as happiness? How can the world have three kinds of understanding of the feeling of suffering? This is thinking, what if there are not three kinds of feelings? If it is small, large, and medium, etc., it will be explained in detail, for small suffering there is the thought of happiness, for large suffering there is the thought of suffering, for medium suffering there is the thought of neither happiness nor suffering. Because there are three kinds of happiness, how can there be three kinds of suffering?
