This shows that the body is controlled by craving. The phrase "other cause" shows that craving for the body is always accompanied. In the phrase "like a body held by dried mud made of small bean flour," the mud made of small bean flour is the outer mud of small bean flour. Applying it means applying it with small bean flour mud. Where the body is dried means the body dried after being applied with small bean flour mud. Like a body dried after being applied with small bean flour mud, it is like a body dried after being applied with small bean flour mud, just as the body is held by drying after being applied with small bean flour mud, so craving also holds the body, which will be shown. In the course of stating the truth, this should be said. In the phrase "what is destroyed," two examples are juxtaposed in order to show two kinds of destruction. What is destroyed by destruction is a vase and so on. What is destroyed by wisdom is water and so on, because it is inappropriate to exclude taste and so on by destruction. Another way is that conventional truth is of two kinds, namely the conventional truth of shape, such as vases and so on, and the conventional truth of aggregation, such as water and so on. Therefore, two are mentioned. Or, like a vase and water, in conventional truth. Two examples are given to show two kinds of conventional truth. Things that exist, such as vases and so on, exist in dependence on tiles and so on, so they are conventional truths that depend on other conventional truths. Water and so on exist in dependence on form and so on, so they are conventional truths that depend on other substances. Feelings and so on should also be viewed in the same way, that is, feelings, perceptions, and thoughts and so on also exist as aggregations of conventional truth. Each of feelings and so on should be viewed as existing only as substances. How so? Even if feelings and so on are excluded by wisdom, the nature of feeling will be transformed into wisdom, so feeling exists as a substance. The same should be applied to thoughts and so on. In this way, it is the ultimate truth, and the term "ultimate" refers to the wisdom that transcends the world.

Therefore, its meaning is that, like the attachment of other worldly people, the object is the ultimate truth, and thus it is the conventional truth. The truth in convention and terminology is the conventional truth. Those who abide in discipline, possess hearing and thought, should diligently engage in meditation. Among them, discipline is morality, which is the cause of non-distraction and the cause of reliance. Hearing is the cause of non-ignorance. Thought is the cause of determination. Meditation is the cause of liberation. The Bhagavan also said: A monk who is diligent and constantly strives, having taken up the correct discipline, by meditating on mind and wisdom, will attain the exhaustion of suffering. It is also said: One should rely on discipline, abide in discipline, and meditate on the two dharmas. Therefore, one must initially show great respect for discipline. Here, it is the intention to manifest the discipline of individual liberation, not the nature of meditation and non-outflow. After that, seeing the truth and hearing in accordance with it is called holding. It is said that meditation with hearing will be complete, because having heard, one will know the dharmas, having heard, one will avert sins, having heard, one will abandon untimely things, and having heard, one will attain nirvana. Therefore, it appears in the verses. All are endowed with hearing, which means not diligently engaging in meditation. What is it then? It means those who have heard much of the dharma that accords with the noble truths. It is also said: Venerable one, if it is said that a monk is learned, how is a monk learned? By what measure does the Tathagata designate and designate a monk as learned? A monk hears the Dharma in order to be disgusted with, detached from desire, and extinguished from the form of a monk; a monk hears the Dharma in order to be disgusted with, detached from desire, and extinguished from the feelings, perceptions, formations, and consciousness of a monk, then he can be said to be a learned monk. A monk becomes a learned monk only by this measure. The Tathagata designates and designates a monk as learned by this measure.
