As for hatred directed at an object, it cannot be abandoned by what is to be abandoned by seeing, because it is to be abandoned by what is to be abandoned by meditation. Therefore, the enemy of viewing in such a way, such as saying, "I am form," is the view of grasping the mind, etc., as self. Other views that possess other views should be applied similarly. The reason why it is said, "Because it is a view that exists in one's own continuum," is that attachment, etc., which are to be abandoned by seeing, enter by looking inward. Furthermore, how do afflictions arise? One sees many causes for their arising, such as being of the same kind, being complete, objects, pleasure, drinking alcohol, the distinction of habituation, etc., are all causes, but at the time of arising, they arise mainly from three causes: "Not having abandoned subtle propensities," etc., will be explained in detail. "Not having abandoned" means that its attainment has not been severed. "Not having fully understood" means that its antidote has not arisen. "The phenomena that are in accordance with the pervasive attachment of desire also appear" means that because of the pervasiveness of these, they are in accordance with the pervasive, just as one becomes intoxicated by what intoxicates. Being in accordance with the pervasive attachment of desire is being in accordance with the pervasive attachment of desire, which is a synonym for "being in accordance with the pervasive attachment of desire." Those are also objects such as form and sound. "Appearing" means abiding in the object's entity. Furthermore, there is improper attention to that, which means "to that appearing object." Perverted attention is improper attention. Similarly, the immediately preceding cause, the subtle propensities of desire, is the power of the cause. The phenomena that are in accordance with the pervasive attachment of desire are the power of the object. Improper attention is the power of application. If it is asserted that afflictions arise from three causes, how can an Arhat completely degenerate? Because there is no unabandoned subtle propensity in him.

If you ask why, there is no fault, because it is believed that only when the causes are complete can they be produced by the three causes, not all cases are like this. Sometimes it is said that it can be produced by the power of the place alone, which is widely said, it is said like this. The sound of saying "it is said like this" is to show that the result of incomplete causes cannot be produced. The four combinations, that is, those, refer to the combination of desire, the combination of existence, the combination of views, and the combination of ignorance. Emphasizing "subtle growth" is to eliminate universal doubts. Because ignorance alone is said to be the leak of ignorance, so it is said "except for ignorance" to connect. If you ask why it is not mentioned here? Refers to universal doubts, drowsiness and agitation. Because it is not autonomous. If you ask how it is not autonomous? Because it is in accordance with greed and so on. Just like jealousy, stinginess, regret, anger and concealment, etc., are only in accordance with ignorance, so it is not like being autonomous. The Kashmiris say that if that is the case, then the shamelessness, embarrassment, drowsiness and agitation in the desire realm, etc., because they are not autonomous, should not be classified as leaks of desire. If you ask like this, then here it is because their own functions do not dominate, so they are not autonomous, not because they are in accordance with other afflictions. Saying "both also" refers to the unspecified ones that do not belong to the form realm and the formless realm, because all the above are unspecified. What cause leads to the desire for existence? "The mouth looks inward, said to prevent the thought of liberation", it is because of this that it is called the leak of existence. Saying "fifteen things" is because each of the three realms has five kinds of ignorance. Saying "all those" refers to the leaks of desire, etc., and the cycle of reincarnation, the sutra widely says that the cause of universal attachment is ignorance, and again says, "Whatever evil destinies there are in this world and the other world, caused by desire and attachment, all
