and thus it increases. For the non-afflicted, it increases only through the object, not through association. Just as the manner of increase of the four aspects of conduct in the desire realm has been explained, the conduct in the form and formless realms should also be understood accordingly. The twelve aspects themselves refer to the mind that is associated and concurrent with all the realms of equal and unequal share in the desire realm, with happiness as the object, the previously arisen that is abandoned by seeing suffering and origin. The concurrent and non-concurrent that are abandoned by seeing suffering and origin, are associated with what is abandoned by seeing origin, as the object. The afflicted and non-afflicted that are abandoned by cultivation, with happiness as the object, are the afflicted and non-afflicted that are abandoned by cultivation as the object. What is abandoned by seeing the path, is what is abandoned by seeing the path, with contaminated dharmas as the object. Thus, the four minds belonging to the desire realm are the object of the object. By taking happiness as the object, the five aspects of conduct in the form realm should also be understood similarly. Because there are five kinds of happiness there, by taking it as the object, the mind that takes it as the object also becomes five kinds. That is, for what has arisen earlier, it is only the five aspects that arise later that take as the object. In the formless realm, the aspect of what is abandoned by seeing the path, associated with wrong views and so on, with happiness as the object, and the virtuous that is abandoned by cultivation, have been explained. To this, if attachment arises to the mind associated with wrong views and so on, then at that time, the mind associated with it, with happiness as the object, is the object of the object. Similarly, for what is abandoned by cultivation with happiness as the object, if the virtuous or afflicted that is abandoned by cultivation takes as the object, then this is also taking happiness as the object as the object. Belonging to suffering and origin, the concurrent and associated also take those two as the object, and this is also taking happiness as the object as the object.

Therefore, for that reason, it is said, "In the formless realm, there are two aspects of conduct." The undefiled mind, with the undefiled bliss of the third dhyana as its object, the previously arisen, the later arisen also takes that as its object, therefore, that is also the object of the object with bliss as its object. Among them, the so-called "conduct in the formless realm" arises extensively, referring to those included by pervasive and non-pervasive. Among them, the non-pervasive becomes more superior. The pervasive ones are just those previously mentioned. Except for what is abandoned by seeing the cessation, the four types of conduct in the desire realm, like before, increase through the means of having objects and being in accordance. Similarly, except for what is abandoned by seeing the cessation, the conduct in the formless realm should also be understood to increase through the means of having objects and being in accordance, each according to its own nature. The conduct in the form realm, with conditioned phenomena as its object, the five types each increase through the means of having objects and being in accordance. The so-called "by this path" means by this way, meaning "by this direction." Furthermore, there will be the saying "should be understood." How so? Regarding the question of how many subtle increases will arise for the consciousness that takes suffering as its object, one should analyze. Suffering is one aspect of conduct in the desire realm, because it is the five aggregates of consciousness, it is what is abandoned by cultivation. These, if summarized, are the objects of the five consciousnesses, because they are what is abandoned by cultivation. The three aspects of conduct in the desire realm, namely, what is abandoned by seeing suffering and origin, the pervasive and corresponding, and what is abandoned by cultivation, the conduct in the form realm that is abandoned by cultivation, the coarse and other aspects included by the invincible, and the undefiled object. These five aspects are the consciousness that takes suffering as its object. Among them, each according to its own nature, the three categories in the desire realm, and what is abandoned by cultivation in the form realm, and the pervasive of subtle increase will increase. The object of the object with suffering as its object.
