If not, how should the past sense-sphere of mind be established? Answer: Only the present consciousness exists as the object of reliance for other consciousnesses. The past is not, so there is no fault. Or there are three times. What are they? It should be combined with the tenet called "Sarvāstivāda" (Everything Exists). If it is said that there are three times, then are the past and future established? Therefore, it is said, "Because it has already been said how it exists." Whatever has happened before is the past. Whatever will happen if there is a cause is the future. Whatever has happened and has not perished is the present. If so, how does it have power? It means, how do the past and future afflictions, or the past and future objects, have power? Because the subtle increase of the cause from which it is born exists, it is said to be an affliction. What is born from the past affliction is what is born from it. The cause of the future subtle increase is its cause. It is both born from it and is its cause, so it is the cause of what is born from it. The cause of what is born from it itself is the subtle increase, which is the subtle increase born from its cause. It exists, which is the subtle increase of its cause born from it exists. Because the subtle increase of its cause born from it exists, the past and future afflictions will have power. Because there is a subtle increase of affliction that focuses on it, it is said to be connected with things. It is also focused on it, and it is also an affliction, so it is the affliction focused on it. This "it" should be combined with the past and future. The subtle increase of affliction focused on it is the subtle increase of affliction focused on it. What is that? It is the habit of affliction, which is a synonym for what is called the seed of affliction. The subtle increase of affliction focused on it exists, which is the subtle increase of affliction focused on it exists. Because the subtle increase of affliction focused on it exists, it is connected with things, that is, with form and so on, past and future. The nature of phenomena is indeed profound. That's all.

So, the intrinsic nature of all phenomena is profound, and it cannot be understood through speculation, so it is not to be proven through practice. In order to understand the specifics of past times, etc., it is also said that there are categories, which means it makes sense. Generally speaking, the cessation of form means that it has now changed and become the past. Because it tends towards arising, the future will arise; because it tends towards ceasing, the present will cease. Time also arises, because they themselves are the basis for discussing time. Things also arise from time, meaning that phenomena arise from the essence of the source. Why? Because future phenomena are composed of many moments. It is said that because some moments arise from the nature of the accumulation of many future moments, it is said that things also arise from time. By the way, the so-called "arrival" refers to all the remaining possessing all. Whether something is abandoned will be explained in detail. Here, abandonment is understood from the perspective of attainment and separation, and separation is understood from the perspective of abandoning afflictions towards it. If afflictions towards it are abandoned, it will not become unabandoned, therefore, it is temporarily explained in detail what is separated from. There are also cases where something is abandoned but not separated from it, and so on. In terms of the power of the path of seeing, even if the suffering to be abandoned by the path of seeing is abandoned, it is explained in detail. In terms of the power of the path of meditation, it is also said that even if the initial appearance is abandoned, and so on. The phrase "knowing suffering is arising" refers to the knowledge of the Dharma of suffering and the subsequent knowledge. Knowing the origin is also the same, both are included. The word "also" means addition. Others say it means collection. The so-called sixteen dharmas refer to the object of focus, that is, each of the three realms has five aspects: suffering, origin, cessation, and path, what is abandoned by the path of seeing, what is abandoned by the path of meditation, and the unpolluted, which becomes sixteen in total. The mind is also sixteen.
