Furthermore, regarding the conduct in the desire realm and the skillful arts, they are the roots of mind, pleasure, joy, and equanimity. There is neither suffering nor happiness, because they are the five aggregates of consciousness in the desire realm, so there is no differentiation. These two are also with differentiation. Nor is it displeasure, because it is virtuous and non-virtuous. In the form realm, the conduct is the roots of mind, pleasure, joy, and equanimity. Among them, there is the pleasure born of the mind of the third dhyana. Emanation is also the two roots of mind and equanimity in all five grounds. There are no two roots of pleasure and joy, because they are to be accomplished through the difference of combination. The rest are called non-Vipāka, namely the eight kinds of faith and so on, and displeasure. Moreover, how are they established as non-Vipāka? It is established from showing that it is only Vipāka, is Vipāka, and is also non-Vipāka. Thus, the life faculty is only Vipāka. Nine are only non-Vipāka. Twelve are two kinds. If the Sutra Pitaka is guided in this way, then, if one experiences displeasure as the result of actions that would cause one to experience pleasure and equanimity, it is shown that it contradicts the Sutra because one does not wish for displeasure to be the result of Vipāka. Just as the touch that will cause one to experience pleasure, it is said with the experience of equal possession as proof, but not with the intention of experiencing Vipāka, so there is no contradiction with the Sutra. For this action, one will experience displeasure, or experience equally with pleasure, which is the meaning of "equally possessed." It is called five kinds of experiencing. It will be explained later. Then, one will experience pleasure and equanimity. Actions are also and so on, just as actions that will cause one to experience displeasure, actions that will cause one to experience pleasure and equanimity are also equally possessed with pleasure and equanimity.

Then, (if it is said that) "the karma of experiencing happiness and equanimity is also the karma of experiencing accordingly," it becomes showing only with the karma of experiencing accordingly, which is too much. In this way, happiness and equanimity, like unhappiness, will not become Vipaka, because they are corresponding to good and non-good karma. Just like happiness, it depends on both situations, because there is no contradiction in either situation. The so-called "karma of experiencing happiness and equanimity" refers to the karma that has the Vipaka of happiness and equanimity, and the karma that corresponds to happiness and equanimity, and there is no contradiction in either situation. Therefore, just like happiness, it depends on the situation. The so-called "there is no opportunity, so know that it is like that," no opportunity means impossible. If, like unhappiness, happiness and equanimity have no opportunity for Vipaka, then know that happiness and equanimity, like unhappiness, are only shown as experiencing the corresponding karma, not as experiencing the Vipaka. Or, this is another meaning, because there is no opportunity, so know that the karma of experiencing unhappiness is shown as experiencing the corresponding karma. Know that experiencing unhappiness from a certain karma, like the karma of experiencing happiness and equanimity, is shown as experiencing the Vipaka. For unhappiness, it is impossible for Vipaka to exist like happiness and equanimity. It is impossible to convince with just language, therefore, in order to refute the opportunity of Vipaka, the reason is put forward: "What is the reason for this?" and so on. Explaining the reason is: "Unhappiness is..." and so on in detail. Unhappiness is caused and ceased by various parikalpas such as unpleasant thoughts, but Vipaka is not like that. Vipaka such as eyes is

It enters and exits not depending on conceptualization, but due to the power of karma's pull. Likewise, pleasant feeling is also similar to that. This statement shows a mistake, because pleasant feeling is also generated and pacified by pleasant thoughts and other conceptualizations. However, it is not reasonable to desire it as a result of maturation. To prove that unpleasant feeling is not a result of maturation, another proponent with the power of reason says: "Well, if it is said that unpleasant feeling increases." Therefore, it is said that since unpleasant feeling arises from the cause of uninterrupted karma, that karma will become a result of maturation. Thus, it will be experienced in this lifetime, and not experienced after birth. Regarding the statement "Pleasant feeling is also similar to that," it is not permissible if the virtuous karma experienced after birth can only be experienced in this lifetime. Just like unpleasant feeling, pleasant feeling should not be admitted as a result of maturation, thus speaking mistakenly. Again, for unpleasant feeling not being a result of maturation, another reason is stated: "Well, for those who are free from desire," this statement is an expansion. For those who are free from desire, unpleasant feeling follows like the feeling of suffering, because the sutra prohibits saying that even though the teacher has passed into nirvana, I will not have sorrow and so on. The result of maturation is not like that, for the result of maturation such as the eyes, there is no turning back for those who are free from desire. Since there is no need, it is also not manifesting virtue, that is not beneficial like pleasant feeling. "Their pleasant feeling" this statement is an expansion, for those who are free from desire, pleasant feeling is gathered by the absorption of virtue, and there is a cause for contemplating the qualities of the Buddha, but it is not a result of maturation of virtue. Therefore, it is necessary to state what kind of result of maturation their pleasant feeling, which is not indicated in the scriptures, is, because its universal occurrence cannot be determined. Whatever it may be, the statement "pleasant feeling" is an expansion.
