Moreover, there is nothing apart from the sun with light. Therefore, just as it is said that it is day because there is the sun, it is said that it is the same here. To this, the Sutra masters say that in the case of "Is it seen by the eye, or is it seen by consciousness?", they say so. What do they say? "Why lick the sky?", meaning that this discrimination is like licking the sky, there is no need. And how is it said that this discrimination is not necessary? Therefore, when "relying on the eye and form" is widely explained, it will be shown in this way: If the existence of the effect is preceded by the existence of the cause, then who is the viewer? What is the viewing? To this, one cannot be convinced by words alone. Therefore, it is said "This has no agent," and so on. "No agent" means that the action different from the existence of the cause ceases. If one admits an action different from this, it will harm the momentary destruction, then the existence of things after the moment contradicts the valid measure. "Only Dharma" means to prevent the inner agent, the person. In order to show that even without the action of the cause and the person of the inner agent, the cause and effect will not contradict the causal relationship between cause and effect, it is said "It is only cause and effect." "For the purpose of establishing conventions" means in the world and in the scriptures. "Intention is not through the door" means that it is not shown through the reason of meaning. Do not be attached to this, because the meaning of the conventional is imputed. From what does it come? It arises from the door of sound because it depends on the producer, etc., because if one searches for it in the ultimate truth, one cannot find it. The meaning of the Blessed One is to show that the Blessed One is preventing attachment to the meaning of the conventional. Do not be attached to the words of the local people, the local people refer to uncertain local people, the determined words are the words of the local people. Why is this determined here, that...

One should not cling to appearances. Why is this a definitive statement? It should not be understood that everything has meaning; this is its meaning. One should not excessively pursue worldly fame. 'Pursuit' and 'excessive pursuit' have the same meaning. Regarding the statement that there is an independent 'self' apart from the body, one should not, through false assumptions, particularly emphasize worldly terms such as 'self' and 'life.' If it is said that this is the doctrine of the Kashmir Vaibhashikas, then here, the occasion has arisen to explain the Dharma Abhidhamma known to the Kashmir Vaibhashikas, and therefore they place these in a secondary position. If one eye is closed, since any object can be seen, it is proven that both eyes can see. Then, why elaborate on 'one eye'? If both eyes are open, is the seeing gradual or simultaneous? Because this has not been analyzed, the discussion is undertaken to clarify this point. There is no certainty about this, because both eyes can see, and the word 'also' indicates that one eye can also see. Here, it should not be definitively asserted that only two eyes or only one eye can see. From where does this certainty come? Because it is seen more clearly. Mentioning the Abhidhamma proponents is to show that some of the Sutrantikas believe that one eye can see. Just as the detailed explanation 'if both eyes are open' occurs, if one eye is closed and the object that continuously enters is not clearly seen, when both eyes are opened, it is seen more clearly. If only one eye sees, then the seeing in the former and latter instances will not differ. If any one of them changes, it is not so. If the open eye is half-closed, or the half-closed eye is fully opened or fully closed, then one will not perceive seeing two moons, therefore it is seen with one eye. If it is not so, if one eye is open and the other is half-closed, one will not perceive seeing two moons. Therefore, it is certain that both eyes can do this simultaneously. If
