, and because they do not see the nature of egolessness, etc., but falsely imagine that there is a nature of permanence, etc. Then, the worldly right view makes the view of the Dharma completely pure, just as on a cloudless night, the moonlight breaks through the darkness and one can see things. With worldly views, those without afflictions view the Dharma in this way, because there is no cloud-like net of ignorance. Although there is a view of impermanence, emptiness, egolessness, etc., it is not completely clear. Then, the view of the trainee is like seeing things on a cloudy day when the sun is covered by clouds. Those with the view of a trainee view the Dharma in this way. For the trainee, because the light of uncontaminated wisdom manifests, it is like walking in the daytime. However, because the net of ignorance clouds still has remnants, it becomes like being with clouds. Just as one sees things on a day when the sun's rays dispel the darkness, so too do those with the view of the non-trainee view the Dharma, because they have been freed from all the afflictive clouds of ignorance. Therefore, the non-trainee will clearly see the Dharma. Then, how should it be said that the vision of the Buddha, the Bhagavan, is the most excellent? The Buddhas, the Bhagavan, have completely separated from all non-afflictive clouds of ignorance, while the Arhats are not so, this is the difference. Yogis, how they dispel the darkness of the heart through the gate of familiarizing themselves with wisdom, so too their objects of focus become particularly pure, this is the difference. Thus, there is no such thing as a pure or impure object of focus, but purity turns into purity, which is to be understood as definitely taking on impurity with an impure mind, and making it pure with purity. The meaning of the summary is as follows: There are five kinds of views, namely, the distinction between unindicated, afflicted, contaminated virtue, trainee, and non-trainee. Among them, un-

According to the reasoning of the doctrine, it is not a view. Ears, etc., and all wisdom that is not obscured and not indicated by the doctrine are not. From the perspective of afflictions, wisdom other than the five views is not a view, as it arises together with desire, anger, pride, ignorance, doubt, etc. From the perspective of learners, there is no wisdom that is not a view. From the perspective of non-learners, knowing exhaustion and non-arising is not a view. From the perspective of virtuous things with outflows, it is only associated with mental consciousness, not with self, for that reason. And why is it said to be only associated with mental consciousness? Even though there is no difference in virtuous things with outflows themselves, it is only associated with mental consciousness, not with the five consciousnesses? "Wisdom born with the five consciousnesses is not a view because it lacks definite understanding." This is said because conceptualization is a view, as it arises from definite thought. Definite conceptualization is preceded by definite thought about an object and has a definite guiding function, so the wisdom that arises together with the five consciousnesses is not like that, and this is explained in detail. Just as the wisdom associated with the eye, etc., is not conceptualization because it does not engage in definite thought, similarly, other wisdom, both afflicted and non-afflicted, is not conceptualization because it does not think about conceptualization, so it is not a view, and this has already been explained in detail above. If wisdom is a view because it is not conceptualization, then if the eye is also not conceptualization, how is it a view? "Because of the meaning of seeing form," the eye is said to be a view because of the meaning of seeing form, not because of the meaning of definite conceptualization, while wisdom is because of the meaning of definite conceptualization, not because of the meaning of seeing, so there is no contradiction in both being views. Because the eye sees forms.

It is called this, seeing form is looking at form. Therefore, by the meaning of looking at form, it is called looking at the eye. If the eye can see, then can it also see when combined with other consciousnesses? It is called this, meaning that other consciousnesses can also see when they manifest. Similarly, for the ear and so on, it is also admitted that there is hearing and so on for those that do not depend on their respective consciousnesses. If all objects are perceived simultaneously, then all eyes can see, which is not the case, because it is admitted that only some eyes can see. When is it called being combined with consciousness? It is when consciousness exists. Since consciousnesses do not exist simultaneously in the senses, all objects will not be perceived simultaneously either. If so, then, when speaking extensively, since only consciousness seems to have the ability to see, then is it only consciousness that can see? "The consciousness that depends on it is not," meaning it depends on the eye. Why? Therefore, "Why is there an interruption, because form is not seen," it is said. The word "indeed" means that this reason cannot prevent consciousness from seeing, in order to show that it is not desired. The scholar assembly says that consciousness is not seeing, because there is no reason or scriptural proof, and because it contradicts the world. There is no reason to say that eye consciousness can see, because there is no reason for establishment. If someone hears and thinks that eye consciousness can see, there is also no scriptural proof, because the Blessed One said in that place that only the eye is the nature of seeing. Saying that eye consciousness can see also contradicts the world, because it is said that not having an eye is being blind, not not having eye consciousness. Whoever does not have an eye is called blind, not not having eye consciousness, because those born in the second dhyana and so on do not have manifest eye consciousness, but they are not without eyes.
