If it is earth, then even if form is afflicted, there is not even a little that is to be abandoned by seeing. Why? Because of not understanding the truths, etc., and what is to be abandoned by seeing is because it is aroused by afflictions. If it is said that at the time of the forbearance of knowledge of the Dharma of suffering, it will become the nature of an ordinary being, then if the forbearance of knowledge of the Dharma of suffering abandons it, then when forbearance arises, because it also possesses the things that should be abandoned by it, even the noble one will become an ordinary being. If according to your view, the nature of an ordinary being itself is what is to be abandoned by cultivation, therefore if it also possesses the path of learning, then wouldn't it become a very great fault? No, because the forbearance of knowledge of the Dharma of suffering itself simultaneously cuts off its attainment. Then how is it not abandoned? Because the afflictions that take it as their object have not been abandoned; before, it was only its decline, not abandonment. Furthermore, what is the difference between separation and abandonment? Slight separation is separation, like eating a little. Complete separation is abandonment; afflictions that take separation as their object arise, but it is impossible for what is not an object to arise. If afflictions that take abandonment as their object do not arise, then why is it said that even if the first aspect is abandoned, it still possesses its objective defilements? This way is afflicted, while the nature of an ordinary being is not afflicted, it is neutral, so there is no contradiction. It is also not born from the sixth, the so-called sixth refers to the mind's source of birth. Born from the sixth means the sixth is born, which is the consciousness of the mind. Not born from the sixth means not born from the sixth, which is born from the five senses. Therefore, it is said that what is born from other than it is not born from the sixth, and this is also because it has entered into looking outward, so it is not to be abandoned by seeing. The aspect of the eye and the realm of Dharma is seeing, so it is said. Among all dharmas, the nature of seeing is two dharmas, namely, forms.

The earth is the basis of the eye. From non-material things, in order to understand what is to be known, the mind runs, possessing clear wisdom, entering into a state of inward observation. Regarding the definition of the eye, it has already been said: They are the support of the consciousness of those things (referring to form, etc.), the clear form of the eye, etc. If by mentioning the correct view, wouldn't all three of these (referring to right view, right thought, right speech, etc.) be revealed? Although it is so, in order to reveal the grounds of ordinary beings, learners, and non-learners, and in order to reveal the order of arising, it needs to be divided into three types. Among them, the view of the aggregates of existence, etc., because their nature is like that of desire, etc., being subtle and increasing, the time to reveal the subtle increase will come. As it is said: Regarding the permanence and impermanence of self and mine, etc. The nature of these three views, there is no opportunity to reveal them elsewhere, so here their nature is revealed. The wisdom that corresponds to and possesses the consciousness of the eye, etc., and the wisdom of the unwholesome, the unspecified, and the uncontaminated all exist, therefore, the wisdom that corresponds to and possesses the consciousness is wholesome and contaminated, thus three differences are stated. The uncontaminated wisdom of the learner is the view of the learner, saying learner is to distinguish from the non-learner. Saying uncontaminated is to distinguish from the contaminated. The uncontaminated wisdom of the non-learner is the view of the non-learner. Just like viewing the scene of a cloudy night, a cloudless night, and a daytime, it will be explained in detail. Therefore, due to the lack of light, the night is overwhelmed by darkness, just like perversely viewing uneven places. Worldly afflicted ones also view the Dharma in the same way. Worldly views see beings as always being in the night, because of the lack of the light of uncontaminated wisdom. Therefore, because of being covered by the net of the cause of ignorance, in the state of practicing afflicted dharmas, beings become like a cloudy night. For example, impermanence and emptiness
