It is not that there is such a distinction, because that is the object of consciousness in the three times and non-times as well. The saying of eye consciousness and so on appears extensively, if asked: How is it with dependence and the same as it? Therefore it is said: Because it is the nature of arising and non-arising. The objectless consciousness is non-arising. Precisely because of this, the example of the mind realm is given. The mind with the nature of arising is with dependence, and the mind without the nature of arising is the same as it, just like that, it is also like this here. What is the meaning of having dependence? Dependence is dependence. Because those exist in these, they are those with dependence. That is, any of the sense faculties, objects, and consciousnesses that are mutually dependent, meaning that they are mutually compliant in the objects of support, object, and subject. Or, it depends on the agent, whatever is done by what, that is compliant with its nature. For example, the function of the eye faculty is seeing, as well as the consciousness of consciousness, and the existence of those objects of form, etc., should also be said to others in the same way. Or, because the fruit touch is similar, it should be connected to say that the support is the same. In this way, touch depends on those, so the object, sense faculty, and consciousness rely on each other and become dependent, so the dependence is the same, meaning that the touch is the same. The touch of those is the mind-born dharma, the fruit is the same, so it is the same in the constant things, meaning that it is similar. Which are those that do not have dependence? It appears extensively, those are similar to those with dependence, so they are the same as those. In what way? It is said, because they are the same by the same kind, meaning that they are similar to those. Both of those are also seeing, one place, and one realm. Or it is the same kind that is the cause of each other, because they are related to each other, and each other.

It is for the sake of taming. The realms to be abandoned by seeing, such as "thus," are widely circulated. Among them, those that are abandoned by seeing are the things to be abandoned by seeing. Those that are abandoned by meditation are the things to be abandoned by meditation. The uncontaminated dharmas are not things to be abandoned. Furthermore, all nine types are abandoned by one path in the manner of smashing stones, those are the things to be abandoned by seeing. Nine types. Those that are abandoned by nine paths in the manner of lotus root stalks are the things to be abandoned by meditation. The classification of what is to be abandoned by seeing and meditation is: among the contaminated dharmas, there are also things to be abandoned by seeing. There are also things to be abandoned by meditation, as explained in detail in the sutras. Briefly, "form" and so on are widely circulated in order to distinguish formless dharmas. The term "ten" is to clarify the realm of dharma. The term "five" and so on refers to the realms of consciousness such as eye, except for the realm of consciousness of mind. How should this be determined? It should be determined that these five realms are only to be abandoned by meditation. But it is not that only those are to be abandoned by meditation, because there is the saying of "the last three." Among them, these ten forms are indeed to be abandoned by meditation, because there is no inverted understanding of the truths. How is there no inverted understanding? Because there is no object. Although the five consciousnesses such as eye indeed have objects, they are indeed to be abandoned by meditation because they look outward. The things to be abandoned by seeing look inward, because they enter through determination. It is also not a non-abandonable thing, because it is a contaminated dharma. Also, the word "also" has the meaning of summarizing. In the term "last three," because they are arranged last in order, they are "last." The eighty-eight latent defilements are the things to be abandoned by seeing the truth of the three realms. Mentioning arising together with them refers to the mind and mental factors that are in accordance with them.
