Yes, and the sense-spheres such as the eye are only shown in one way. As for what is called the non-touch sense-sphere, the two, the elements and what is transformed from the elements, are different in nature, so they are not non-different entities. Therefore, it contradicts the sutra, so the ten sense-spheres are not merely the elements. Then, where in the sutra is it explained in detail? If the eye is not the nature of the elements, why does it say this: On the mass of flesh of the eye, it is solid and hardened, whatever is the form of hardness? If someone asks this, then the sutra explains in detail that it exists inseparably from this. Therefore, the state of the eye existing inseparably from this exists, so it exists inseparably. It will be shown like this: Whatever is on the mass of flesh of the eye, this which is to be shown closely is the fleshy eyeball, which exists together with the eye sense, and is its support. Because the dependent is nominally established on the support. Because the eye is not the nature of the mass of flesh, because it is not of a pure nature. Others say that it was said that way in order to establish names in accordance with worldly terms. Because in the world, it is thought that its support, the mass of flesh, is the nature of the elements and what is transformed from the elements, and it is thought to be the eye, but not the eye sense. Or, in order to express the intention of the reason, it will be understood that it is not the intention of the basis. Therefore, the elements exist inseparably from the eye sense, because the support of all the masses of flesh has been spoken of. If the eye and so on, and form and so on, are not the nature of the elements, then this monk is the six elements, namely the earth element, water element, fire element, wind element, space element, and consciousness element. If so, it would contradict the words of the Buddha showing this meaning. If form and so on, and the eye and so on, are different from earth and so on, then it cannot be said that this person is the six elements. If someone says this, then this is in order to show the basis of the substance of sentient beings at the time of entering the womb. Because the sutra has a hidden meaning, there is no contradiction. Therefore, it is the basis of the substance of sentient beings in the state of being like curds and so on, that is, because it is the first to be shown.

If it is thought that there is no mind, then like feelings and other phenomena arising from the mind, since they have not been spoken of, it would also be a fault to become non-existent. If, like things that arise only from what arises, the nature of mind is what arises from the mind, and not something that has become other than the mind, then this fault will not occur. Therefore, the nature of mind is spoken of in detail. Why? Because it contradicts the sutras, in which "consciousness" and so on appear in detail. Furthermore, because the mind with desire and so on arises, the word "etc." is connected in the sutra. It is not reasonable to assert that the nature of mind is what arises from the mind, because it is said, "The mind has desire, the mind has hatred, the mind has ignorance." One can only say that one thing has another thing, but not that oneself has oneself, therefore it is not reasonable to assert that the nature of mind is what arises from the mind. Therefore, only the tenets of the Vaibhashikas are the best. In the statement "Ten forms are aggregates," by necessarily grasping that only ten forms are aggregates, it is understood that the other eight are not aggregates. And how is it known that those are not aggregates? Therefore, it is said, "Because they are aggregates of atoms." In the statement "The cutter and what is to be cut are the four external elements," saying "external" is to exclude the internal elements. Saying "four" is to exclude the elements of sound and dharma. "Ax and wood" and so on, the word "etc." should be connected with each word, ax and sword etc. are the cutters, wood and body etc. are what is to be cut. Here, the word "is" means that both are included, here, due to fame, different examples are used as metaphors. The meaning of the word "self" is definite, meaning that it is thought to be only external. If all actions that are destroyed immediately after becoming oneself have no effect, then what is the dharma of cutting? This is a moment.

Therefore, what is to be cut off, and if there is no cutter, then what is this dharma called 'cutting off'? The so-called 'arising of the collection's continuity, having connection, and being able to generate differentiation,' where 'connection' refers to the connection between cause and effect. Because there is a continuous arising continuity in this, it is said to have connection. The continuity of the collection, that is, the continuous production of the continuity, that which has connection, is called cutting off by generating differentiation. But it is not transformed into something else from the continuity that should be cut off. Because differentiation does not arise on a single atom, and the two times of connection and differentiation cannot exist simultaneously in one moment of matter, it is said 'on the continuity of the collection.' The so-called body's senses, etc., are not to be cut off. For the body's senses, etc., that kind of cutting off is not reasonable. Why? Because if the limbs are completely cut off, they cannot be divided into two parts. Saying 'completely' is because if the limbs are cut off with remnants, the differentiation on the senses can be seen. If someone says that this statement alone is not convincing, therefore it is said that 'the senses, etc., cannot be divided into two parts.' The word 'ni' is to emphasize that the senses, etc., cannot be divided into two parts by the cause of cutting off, which is the meaning to be determined. For this, the reason is stated: because there are no senses on the cut-off limb. This can also be understood from the fact that the limb cannot perceive the object, but this has not been widely proclaimed. If so, if the tip of the nose is cut off and then reattached, how does the body's consciousness arise? Because the senses that arise from growth will arise, there is no fault. This also explains why the tails of some animals grow back after being cut off. The so-called 'also not a cutter' is because things with the characteristics of senses are as clear as the light of a jewel. The light of a jewel is not to be cut off, because if the jewel is completely cut off, it cannot be divided into two parts. This can be obtained from certainty. Similarly, things that can be burned and things that can be measured are also like that. This refers to the statement of analogy, that is, they are things that can be burned.
