Because mind and mental factors are not of their own nature. If it is said that the five aggregates of consciousness are extensively explained, if conceptualization is conceptualization, then how can those that correspond to it be without conceptualization? And where is it said that there is no conceptualization? Only consciousness itself is shown to be conceptualization with itself, so in reality it is said that the five aggregates of consciousness are without conceptualization. It is also said that because there is no conceptualization, it does not cause the actions of body and speech, because it is said so. Definite conceptualization and recollection conceptualization do not conceptualize, so they are without conceptualization, but it is not that self-nature conceptualization does not conceptualize. There are three types of conceptualization, which is well known, called, the word "Geste" (གྲག་སྟེའི་) indicates that it is the word of the distinguisher. Therefore, the five aggregates of consciousness have self-nature conceptualization, but there is no definite conceptualization and recollection conceptualization. Therefore, it is called without conceptualization, for example, a horse has only one leg, because it cannot do the action of the leg, so it is called without legs, similarly, because there is no definite conceptualization and expression of the object, so even if there is only one conceptualization, it is also called without conceptualization. If it is said that consciousness also has one conceptualization, isn't it? For example, the samadhi of the second dhyana and so on, is just like having conceptualization only with the conceptualization of recollection, if it is said like this, although there is, it is said considering the type of consciousness. How to say it? The consciousness of the desire realm and the first dhyana that is not in samadhi, that is with three conceptualizations. The samadhi of the first dhyana and the non-samadhi of the second dhyana and so on are two kinds, and the samadhi is one kind. Among them, self-nature conceptualization is conceptualization, and the five aggregates of consciousness are conceptualization because they are coarse.

Its nature is conceptual, because they have the same properties. If someone asks, is this not the occasion to explain the nature of mental factors? Therefore, below it will be mentioned "from among the mental factors" etc., that is, the establishment of coarse and subtle discrimination and observation. It must be said that the nature of the distinctions made by determination and recollection must undoubtedly be explained here, otherwise there would be no occasion for establishment. Therefore, it is said that "the nature of others is," wisdom arises together with eye consciousness etc., and there are also those arising from mind, and those arising from mind are also in samadhi and not in samadhi, therefore, the two differences of "mind's distracted wisdom" are emphasized. Agra refers to focusing on the object. Not focusing on the object is distraction, and the objects are diverse, because they are distracted to other objects. Why is it said to be a definite distinction? Because it relies on names and enters into other objects, that is, it is determined to be form, feeling, perception, formation, consciousness, or it is determined to be impermanent, suffering, emptiness, selflessness, etc. The wisdom of samadhi arising from meditation only enters into the object without relying on names. Therefore, whatever is not in samadhi is a definite distinction, because it determines things by means of names. The wisdom of samadhi does not rely on names, therefore it is only focused on things themselves. All mental recollections. Saying "all" is to include samadhi and non-samadhi. Saying "mind" is to exclude the recollections associated with eye consciousness etc. Because the object is indicated by the mind, and does not rely on the determination of names, recollection is only all the recollections of samadhi and non-samadhi.

English

That is discrimination. Those that are associated with eye consciousness, etc., are not subsequent memory discriminations because they are not distracted, because they are associated with non-discriminating consciousness. There are seven realms of mind with objects. Among these, the seven are the very nature of having objects, and should be understood as such. From where does this come? Because the phrase "half of the Dharma also" appears. Because these have objects, they are called having objects. Object, object of experience, and object of focus are different names. In "half of the Dharma also," what is it? It refers to the meaning of approaching having objects. However, the word "also" has the meaning of holding together, while others say it has the meaning of definite holding. In this way, it can be established that everything other than mind and mental factors is without objects. There are nine ungrasped, and in this, the first "and" has the meaning of holding together. The second "and" is to clarify the meaning of other terms. Some say that sound is also not different from the sense faculty. Because the phrase "the other nine have two aspects" appears, it should be known that the nine are only ungrasped. Half of the realm of Dharma has been explained as having objects, but not all of it. In the ungrasped, all is desired, therefore it is said "with half of the eighth." The other nine have two aspects. In this, if it has not begun, then it should be known that it is only grasped. Those that arise now are grasped, because they benefit and harm them, and benefit and harm the mind and mental factors, etc. The past and future are ungrasped, because it is impossible to benefit and harm them. Those that are not different from the sense faculties, such as form, etc., are not different like the sense faculties because the sense faculties are established and the truth is one. Others, although they are present, are ungrasped. What are they? Those that dwell in this body different from the sense faculties. For example, except for the roots, the roots of hair, body hair, nails, and teeth are not different from the sense faculties of the body, so they are included in the body.
