As a remedy for that (the five aggregates), the form aggregate itself is divided into ten aspects, and the mind and mental factors are also each divided into sense bases. In this way, breaking down the whole reverses the clinging to self that is preceded by grasping at the whole. Some people, regarding form and mind, pursue what is called "ignorance." In order to reverse these ignorances, when explaining the realms, form is divided into ten aspects and mind into seven aspects. Among them, ignorance towards mental factors is a smaller aspect of ignorance, because it is ignorance towards subtle things and similar things. Ignorance towards form is a medium aspect of ignorance, because it is ignorance towards coarse things and similar things. Ignorance towards both form and mind is a greater aspect of ignorance, because it is ignorance towards subtle things, coarse things, similar things, and dissimilar things. Thus, explaining the aggregates in this way reverses the view of the perishable aggregate that is preceded by grasping at the whole, and also abandons the afflictions that are preceded by it. The word "གྲག་གོ" (graggo) is used to eliminate the views of other schools. In other treatises, considering the explanation of the aggregates and so on, other things are explained, and the aggregates and so on are explained by eliminating the grasping at them as being one, the agent, and profound, according to the order, because grasping at them as self is preceded by grasping at oneness and so on. In the phrase, "The faculties are also of three kinds," here the faculties refer to faith and so on. Among them, the aggregates are explained for the sake of individuals with sharp faculties, because with sharp faculties, they can understand the divisions of the sense bases and realms simply through the divisions of the aggregates. The sense bases are explained for the sake of individuals with medium faculties, because with medium faculties, they can understand the divisions of the realms through the detailed divisions of the intermediate sense bases. The realms are explained for the sake of individuals with dull faculties, because with dull faculties, they cannot understand without explanation through their own intellectual abilities. Therefore, doing so is done to benefit all beings.

Alas! Regarding the statement "Desire also has three aspects," desire means interest. Among them, for those who like concise treatises, it is explained from the perspective of the aggregates of a person, because the content to be expressed is small. For those who like intermediate treatises, it is explained from the perspective of the sense bases. And for those who like extensive treatises, it is explained from the perspective of the elements. Furthermore, why do they think that way? It is because of previous habits. If other dharmas are taught to those with other interests, it will only become a cause for disbelief. Therefore, based on the differences in the interests of those to be tamed, the three aspects are explained through the aggregates and so on. Again, why? This statement will appear in detail. What is the thought? Just like feeling and perception, why aren't formations and so on also established separately as aggregates? Or, just like formations and so on, why aren't feeling and perception also established as one? The reason for this will be explained, that is the thought. The statement "Becoming the root of disputes and the cause of samsara" is extensively explained. The roots of disputes are two: excessive attachment to desire and excessive attachment to views. For householders and renunciants, most of them, in that order, develop desire and attachment to desire and views. Therefore, desire is what is desired, which are the objects such as form. Excessive attachment to those is the desire of intention. Views refer to the view of the aggregates of destruction and so on. Excessive attachment to those is only the desire of intention. Regarding "The main causes of those two are, in order, feeling and perception," those two refer to the two roots of disputes that have the characteristic of excessive attachment to desire and views. The reason for saying "main cause" is that ignorance and so on also become the causes of those two. Regarding "Due to the power of feeling tasting flavors," because it is said "tasting flavors," feeling itself is tasting flavors, therefore feeling is tasting flavors. That is because it is like tasting sweetness, so it is tasting flavors. Due to its power, from the desire of intention, there is manifest attachment to desire. Therefore, the main cause of excessive attachment to desire is feeling.
