Thus it is said. The peak of destruction is the second dhyana and so forth, the three dhyanas. In that realm, the wind that arises in the first moment of the wind of the earth element becomes the cause of that wind. As for "seeds are brought," there are five kinds of seeds: root seeds, stem seeds, seed seeds, trunk seeds, and node seeds. As for "even if it is so," it means that even if the seeds are brought, even so, things arise as non-existent. Like this, from those seeds and so forth arise, and so on. The word "and so forth" includes sprouts and leaves and so on. As for "only from its own limbs," it means that a sprout arises only from its own limbs, and those limbs also arise only from their own limbs, even up to arising from particles. Those do not arise from anything because they have no parts. If sprouts and so forth do not arise from seeds and so forth, then from where do those who strive for that now closely take those, and what is the use of seeds and so forth for sprouts and so forth, which are those that exist and do not exist? This shows that it contradicts what is seen and contradicts the world. As for "there is nothing at all except that those particles meet," it means that the particles of sprouts and so forth, driven by the unseen, gather closely in the place of the seed, and those meet each other there, thus creating the fruit, sprouts, and so forth. The function of seeds and so forth for sprouts and so forth is that, but sprouts and so forth have no function, therefore those who strive for that closely take those, and there is no contradiction with what is seen. And why do those think so, it means that they abandon the cause of seeing seeds and so forth without cause, and think that the unseen nature of particles is permanent, which is unreasonable. As for "it will become uncertain," it means that if dissimilar kinds arise from dissimilar kinds, then everything will arise from everything. That is not seen that way either. Therefore.

Only from branches of the same kind as shoots can shoots grow, not from seeds and the like, because they are of different kinds. Because the capacity is definite, it will not change in that way. Regarding this statement, just as seeds, by virtue of the difference in capacity, provide the subtle particles of shoots, and not other subtle particles. Those subtle particles are also not others, similarly, seeds, shoots, leaves, and so on, each with different capacities, therefore, they can definitely produce the respective fruits of shoots and so on, so there is no fault of uncertainty. It must be undoubtedly acknowledged that capacities are different, otherwise, it must also be acknowledged that subtle particles of shoots and so on also exist in stones, and it must also be acknowledged that the fruits of those existing there will also be produced. To show a very famous example, it is mentioned, "Just as sound and cooking fire arise from similar kinds." Sound only arises from contact and actions of different kinds, and not from odors and other different kinds. Similarly, colors and so on that arise from cooking only arise from the act of cooking and cooks and other different kinds, and not from sounds and pleasures and other different kinds. "The qualities of virtues are diverse," this is because they can arise from both similar and different kinds. Among them, the qualities of fruits, that is, those that are preceded by the qualities of causes, are from similar kinds, while sounds and those that arise from cooking and pleasures and so on are from different kinds. The dharma of matter is not like that, because it only arises from similar kinds. Then, what is the reason for this? Because the capacity is definite. Just as with virtues, matter does not have the capacity to produce different kinds. Just like this, only from similar kinds and so on will arise. Those and only those are like that and so on will appear in detail, just as reeds and so on that exist in that way, only in that way, that is, remaining in the form of the essence of Reed and so on, and completely remaining there, can obtain the name of Reed and so on, just like ants.
