I am. Therefore, it (referring to the Brahma world) is immeasurable, while the rest (of the worlds) are measurable because they are interconnected. Mentioning "the Brahma world" implies that the second and others are not included in the small chiliocosm. Precisely because of this, it is called "the chief aggregate," because it has become the head and is the general collection. "They perish together and arise together." This means that here, sentient beings perish together, and the vessels arise together. From the arising of the vessels, it is called the formation kalpa, which means that what perishes later has already formed earlier, as will be explained later. "The inhabitants of Jambudvipa" is a broad statement, the size of their bodies is four and a half cubits. Some have bodies that are four cubits in size. "Eastern Continent and Southern Continent, and Northern Continent" means that those places that have names are the Eastern Continent, the Southern Continent, and the Northern Continent. Their sizes are eight cubits, sixteen cubits, and thirty-two cubits respectively. "Subtract three measures from that" means that if you double the measure and subtract three, then the bodies of the cloudless ones are one hundred and twenty-five yojanas, and so on, which should be calculated. "Like the kumuda and the lotus" means that just as here the kumuda flowers close during the day and open at night, while the lotuses are the opposite. There, day and night are distinguished by the closing and opening of some flowers. "Birds making sounds and not making sounds," etc., making sounds is night, and not making sounds is day, or vice versa. "Awakening from sleep and drowsiness" means that from drowsiness it is clear that it is night, and from awakening from sleep it is day, so it is like that. "Half of a great kalpa" means that eighty intermediate kalpas are a great kalpa, and half of that, forty intermediate kalpas, are considered a kalpa, and then their lifespans are extensively discussed. A bodhisattva who is one birth away from enlightenment is one who is only one birth away from becoming a Buddha. They reside in Tushita and live out their lives completely.

will become extinguished. The so-called "having an end" is the last birth, because in that very birth one will directly realize the state of an Arhat. The teaching of the Tathagata is when the Tathagata prophesies, saying, 'At that time, there will only be this much.' The messenger of the Tathagata is one who has not completed the task of a messenger. Those who follow faith and those who follow the Dharma are those who abide in the path of seeing, whether they are of sharp or dull faculties. The word 'etcetera' includes those who are in cessation, those who are without conceptualization, and those who are absorbed in the samadhi of loving-kindness. 'Places measured by yojanas' means: 'Thousands, sixteen, eight, four, and two are also in excess.' Such as these describe places measured by yojanas. 'The body of a desire realm god, one-fourth' and so on describe the bodies. Describing lifespan by the measure of years means: 'Unpleasant sound, lifespan of a thousand years, each abandoning half of two.' All designations are also by name, such as: 'He holds a water pot in his hand, holds a rosary, and is always intoxicated.' 'Diminishing form' refers to the form of aggregates, not the subtle form of material particles, because there is no diminishing since there are no parts. A limit is that which cannot be divided. The limit of time, such as that instant, is when there is no other division, which is the instant when things obtain their nature when conditions come together. The limit of a name is a letter, because without letters there is no name. It is said that there are four months of winter because the minor winter is similar to cold, so it is said to be winter. It is said that there are four months of spring because spring is similar to warmth, so it is said to be the warm season. It is said that there are four months of summer because autumn is also similar to summer, so it is said to be summer. 'Half a month and two have passed' means that there is a half month remaining, so it is half and two. 'Half a month and two have passed' means it has passed. Thus, in the winter, warm season, and summer, the third half-month, in all places, abandoning the nights that cannot be endured, therefore there are six days of excess in a year.
