What is the extensive arising of "nourishment"? It means that if sentient beings are not free from desire for forms, etc., then it is not reasonable to turn near to the objects of forms, etc., because they have already cut off the seeds of affliction. How does one turn near? It means that one either generates joy towards them, or generates anger, or abandons them without attention. Therefore, it is not only those without outflows, as it is said, "Your meditation is in two, in twelve, those who desire to go." etc., those with outflows are also not all. If so, what is it? It means all afflictions, the fruits of all afflictions, and those who accord with all afflictions, this is the name. Pleasantness, etc., are of two kinds, namely, rejoicing in mental objects, or according with anger, etc., or not according with them. Among them, those who accord with rejoicing, etc., are said to be turning near, the others are not. Therefore, they turn near with mental objects, this is the extensive explanation. Because of the power of feeling, joy, etc., arise, therefore it is said that they turn near with objects. Intentional equanimity is good, therefore it is said to abandon without attention, meaning to abandon without creating. What is the constant abiding of six antidotes? It means that whatever afflictions have constant antidotes, the abiding that is definitely possessed, is the distinction of yoga. What are those six? It means that the eye sees all forms, and does not turn into pleasantness, etc., meaning it does not turn into pleasantness, does not turn into joy, does not turn into unpleasantness, does not turn into anger, it abides in equanimity, meaning it attends without creating. Possessing mindfulness and possessing correct knowledge, meaning the wisdom that corresponds to mindfulness, seeks the antidote.

This is the concluding remark. If it is said that after seeing forms with the eyes, the mind does not become happy, and so on. Then, does an Arhat not become happy? Therefore, to explain that even an Arhat has worldly virtues, because they focus on the Dharma, it is not that they do not have mental happiness, this statement was made. This is clearly a negation. What is being negated? It is what was said, that after seeing forms with the eyes, the mind does not become happy, and so on. "Focusing on the Dharma" refers to the act of listening to the Dharma, etc., the virtues of the Buddha manifest, possessing the happiness of a joyful mind, this is not a state where the mind wanders closely. The so-called "thirty-six teachings of the Teacher" refers to the characteristics of the Teacher and the signs of the Teacher. It means that these can be understood as the Teacher, because others do not have the ability to distinguish these. Regarding the so-called "difference between relying on attachment and relying on renunciation," attachment is greed, actually it is closeness and love, manifest attachment and craving, these are different names. Renunciation is freedom from desire. Renunciation from Samsara or all afflictions is renunciation. Because the Teacher proclaimed these differences, it is said to be for the purpose of teaching. As it is said in the Sutra: "Relying on forms that can be known by the eyes, mental happiness will arise, this can be understood in two ways: relying on attachment and relying on renunciation." The Sutra elaborates in detail, and the same can be understood for sound, smell, taste, touch, and Dharma. Unhappiness and equanimity are also similar. Thus, the so-called "feeling" is a limb of existence, referring to the six feelings that arise from it, five are of the body, and the other is of the mind, from "relying on renunciation is virtue" it is elaborated in detail. The so-called "basis of afflictions and karma," steadfastness refers to the three afflictions and two karmas. The so-called seven bases. The so-called affliction refers to dependent origination.

In order to connect the twelve limbs (of dependent origination) with the becoming, the sutra is composed. In order to show the respective functions of afflictions, actions, and basis through external examples, here it is explained in detail that "afflictions are like seeds." The ocean of rebirth where the dragons of afflictions reside is also similar to that. If there are afflictions, then actions and so on will approach. Therefore, since I am born from action, if there are afflictions, then the ocean of rebirth of some will not dry up. For actions, it should also be understood that maturation is for producing (results), which is the proximate cause, and afflictions are the distant cause. There will be no liberation, because even arhats have the cause of existing again. These have been explained. How to explain it? Here, whatever occurs between death and birth occurs in the becoming. The becoming of birth is the moment of connection in beings. From then on, other than the moment of death, the others are the previous becoming. The last moment after which there is no intermediate becoming is the becoming of death. The becoming of birth is afflicted. The reason for saying "the becoming of birth is afflicted" is that it is not virtuous, not obscured, and not indeterminate. Therefore, "only" is said to indicate that it is only afflicted. Since afflictions are not specified, there is the question, "Which affliction?" Therefore, "all afflictions" is said. Are all becomings of birth afflicted by all afflictions? No. Then what is it? Only the afflictions of oneself, namely desire, anger, pride, ignorance, views, and doubt. It is not controlled by pervasive and independent ones. Because they are associated with afflictions such as desire, there are pervasive ones such as shamelessness, lack of embarrassment, lethargy, excitement, and sleep, which are not autonomous, so it is specifically emphasized that "controlled by independent ones." Other than ignorance, other afflictions want
