Because there is no (this), there is no craving, and because there is no (that), there are no grasping and so on. The meaning of the sutra is only as stated, starting with "What is ignorance?" and ending with "What is not knowing the past limit?" and so on. Similarly, it should be said for all the limbs as well. Because it is only the meaning of the sutra as stated, therefore even if there are other aggregates, they are not the cause of formations and so on. On this, there is also an extensive explanation of "future dharmas," and if it is said that "future dharmas are dependent arising, not dependent arising," this contradicts the sutra. How does it contradict? What are the dharmas of dependent arising? They are from ignorance to old age and death. Or, it must be desired not to establish the limbs of birth and old age and death in the future time. If future dharmas are not dependent arising, then what will happen? Therefore, it is said "divided into three parts," that is, "two each at the beginning and end, and eight in the middle." The so-called "other schools" refer to the schools of the Holy Land and so on. How do they think like that? Because it is said in the Buddha's sutra, "Monks, dependent arising is not made by me, nor is it made by others, but whether the Tathagatas appear or not, the nature of dharma abides," so it is extensively explained. The so-called "there is another slight permanent dharma" refers to a permanent dharma like the cessation that is not separately observed from ignorance and so on. The so-called "arising is the nature of the conditioned" means that these three are the nature of the conditioned, and it is extensively explained that "the conditioned also manifests arising." The so-called "other permanent dharma" and so on, whatever does not arise without something, that is its nature, and arising is permanent, therefore even without things, things exist in the state of not existing before and not existing after destruction, so it cannot be the nature of that thing. Or like space and so on, not at the time

Because of clinging, what does not belong to the time should not be the nature of belonging to the time. The so-called "arising" is because it is birth. To this, if it is the view of the Sutra School, it is the nature of arising from non-arising. If it is the view of the Vaibhashikas, then it is the agent. Then, for it, just like the goer and the going, the potter and the pottery, there is a connection between ignorance and so on and the nature of the agent and the action. In this way, if the arising of ignorance and so on is called a connection, then by examining dependent origination, it is elaborated what connection this has with ignorance and so on, because there is no connection of the nature of the agent and the action. Or, the so-called "arising" is because it is birth, from where can it be called their dependent origination? What connection does this birth, which you have completely examined and does not belong to the time, have with these that belong to the time, such as ignorance? It is also called permanent, and it is widely spread that arising from the aggregation of causes and conditions is dependent origination, which is a separate explanation of words. Therefore, the meaning of words will become ineffective, because how can it be both arising from the aggregation of causes and conditions and permanent? Precisely because of this, it is said that it is called both permanent and dependent origination, which are contradictory. Furthermore, if it is said that ignorance and so on are other, or not other, or dependent on them, then in any case it is unreasonable, because one's own nature is not determined, and because the multitude itself is impermanent, there will be faults. Furthermore, the declaration of dependent origination is to prevent the eternalist and annihilationist, just as it is also said in the sutra: Because things have entering changes, therefore they will not be annihilated. Because things have returning changes, therefore they will not be permanent. If dependent origination is examined, then how can the eternalist be prevented? If the sutra is examined according to its literal meaning, then monks, I have found the ancient path, the ancient footprints, the footprints of the previous Buddhas.
