The so-called showing of the three states of existence refers to going from the next world to this world, and from this world to the next world, and so on. This dependent arising is also considered to be showing sentient beings, and if it is not showing sentient beings, that is not possible, because then the transfer from the next world would be unreasonable. Showing dependent arising is for the purpose of refuting causelessness and dissimilar causes, and the meaning of dependent arising is the meaning of entering into cyclic existence. Why is it that only sentient beings are shown in the sutras? It is because for those who show sentient beings, there are the categories of universal defilement and purification. Moreover, it is also for the purpose of showing those who are tamed by the Bhagavan, because the appearance of the Buddhas is solely for that purpose. Therefore, since it is the great Deva, only sentient beings are shown in the sutras. The treatises, on the other hand, follow the nature of phenomena, including sentient beings and non-sentient beings. The so-called twelve limbs refer to the twelve causes. The so-called three parts refer to the three sections that are completely divided. The remaining eight are in the middle, referring to consciousness, name and form, the six sense sources, contact, feeling, craving, grasping, and existence. Alternatively, the so-called "all" refers to those who depend on entering the womb without distinction, or to all sentient beings of the three realms. The so-called "this birth" refers to the birth that enters into many births. The so-called not dying in the intermediate state refers to one who dies without having attained the state of existence, and is called dying in the intermediate state. The so-called form and formlessness are also not activity, because in the form realm, for activity, there is no state of name and form that is different from the state of consciousness and the six sense sources. For example: Name and form are after that, before the six sense sources appear. It will be explained in this way. Therefore, there are no twelve limbs in the form realm. In the formless realm, for activity, there is no state of name and form, and no state of the six sense sources, because

Because there is no obstruction, those are not there. Therefore, there are ten limbs. For example, in the Great Discourse on the Categories of Dharma, it is extensively explained that, Ananda, if consciousness does not enter the mother's womb, will that consciousness grow, expand, and become vast? Because there is such a statement, it is impossible to enter the mother's womb except from the desire realm. If that is the case, then with regard to all individuals, the establishment of the limb of existence will be confused. Because the previous and subsequent ends, along with the fruit and cause, etc., are mentioned. Because the previous end along with the fruit, and the subsequent end along with the cause, are mentioned, the twelve limbs of dependent origination and the three parts are said to be the previous end and the subsequent end in two ways. Among them, the previous end is ignorance and action. Its fruit is consciousness, name and form, the six sense sources, contact, and the limb of feeling. Thus, the seven limbs are the previous end. What is the subsequent end? It is birth and old age and death. Its cause is craving, grasping, and the limb of existence. Thus, the five limbs are the subsequent end. Furthermore, what are ignorance and so on? This is because, is ignorance merely not knowing? Or is it thinking that all afflictions are, so asking. Similarly, it should also be said to others. Therefore, it is said, "Ignorance, affliction, previous dwelling time." Saying "previous" is because the present is encompassed by craving and grasping. Again, why are all afflictions expressed by the word ignorance? Again, because it is determined that existence is the nature of the cause of actions that project rebirth. Attachment and so on are not like that, for example, attachment is not the cause of actions that are manifestly performed by hatred. Similarly, it should also be said to others. Ignorance is indispensable, because it acts together with all afflictions. Also, because it possesses the power of the ability to establish it, it also relies on the side of ignorance, therefore, all afflictions are expressed by its word.
