Like "that," the subsequent arising is learning. The subsequent arising after knowing cessation is knowing non-arising. Therefore, the mind is said to be of four types. At the time of arising, it is the virtue of the three realms and the non-learner, just as knowing non-arising after knowing cessation. The subsequent arising after the non-learner, learning never arises, because it is interrupted by the afflicted mind. Without the pervasive activity of afflictions, there is no complete degeneration. The words "innately obtained and virtue arising from effort" appear. Among them, the one arising from effort is the attainment of effort, which arises from hearing, thinking, and meditating. Therefore, because it is not in equipoise, there is no arising from meditation in the desire realm. In the form realm, there is no arising from thinking, because those continuums are moistened by tranquility, so the very nature of mental concentration abides closely. In the formless realm, there is only arising from meditation, and nothing else. Innately obtained virtue is that which is obtained by birth itself, without mental effort. In the desire and form realms, it is the moment of connection in the intermediate existence. In the formless realm, it is the first birth among the existences of birth. The words "arising from maturation, activity, craftsmanship, and emanation" indicate that this is divided by the difference of cause and action. Among them, that which arises from the cause of maturation is the arising from maturation. That which arises from activity is the practitioner of activity. Similarly, that which arises from craftsmanship and emanation is the craftsman and the emanator, because it is explained in the seventh chapter on reasoning. Alternatively, because it arises in dependence on those, it arises from them. The three, the practitioner of activity, the craftsman, and the emanator, are divided by the difference of action, while the former is divided by the difference of cause. The words "in the form realm, except for craftsmanship" mean that all the immeasurable palaces and so on of the form realm are born from action and are emanated, and there is not even a little that is made by craftsmen. Because those with form have going, staying, and so on, activity

The walker exists. In the formless realm, because there are no walkers, craftsmen, and emanated beings, there is no distinction of the unobscured and unindicated. Why are there no walkers, etc., in the formless realm? Because their objects are form, smell, taste, and touch. Among them, the objects of the walkers, etc., are successively their own body and the form of mats, etc., the form of craftsmanship, and the forms of emanation, etc. Regarding "Craftsmanship is also sound," it is because the instructor learns by focusing on what is said with consciousness. Since it is not specifically stated that it is born from maturation, it is certain that form, etc., are also objects. Regarding "It is only consciousness," it is because the discrimination of walking, etc., begins to manifest. Except for that born from maturation, now all six consciousnesses are. Regarding "It is a collection of five consciousnesses," it is because they arise in the state of combination, so it is a combination. How is it combined? It arises between seeing and touching, so they arise. There is no combination from maturation. Maturation is caused by its own nature. Although emanation has combination, it is not a collection of five consciousnesses, because it arises at the end of meditation. Because it is intended to explain the result of supernormal cognition, this will not lead to an excessive inference about the existence of yakshas and flesh-eating ghosts, etc. Others say, "Accomplished by craftsmanship," meaning that there is a consciousness accomplished by craftsmanship, that is, the consciousness that produces that consciousness. The so-called object of the twelve sources is because it takes all dependent things as its object. Therefore, if this is the case, it will be known that, in addition to walkers, etc., there are other unobscured and unindicated ones, from taking the eye source to taking the dharma source.

That which is called "except for the fruit," that arises as a consequence of the virtuous application belonging to the form realm, but not as a consequence of the realm of desire. The application arising from the practice in the form realm, and the learners and non-learners, are at the time of entering into equipoise. Because it is impossible for those who abide in the virtuous application to have death and transference. In its aftermath, the obscurations of the higher realms do not arise. That which is called "one's own virtue and afflictions," arising from birth and arising from application, and obscurations and non-virtue, and at the time of arising, the application arising from the practice in the form realm, and the learners and non-learners, and afflicted by the equipoise of afflictions, because it relies on the lower, therefore it arises in the aftermath of the afflictions of the practice in the form realm. It is not from those that are one's own ground but are not obscured and not predicted, because they enter with little power and without manifestation. That which is called "the afflictions of the practice in the form and formless realms" is at the time of connecting the self, because those who abide in what is obtained from birth may have death and transference, and connection to the higher realm. That is because it enters without manifestation, so the two, learners and non-learners, and the application arising from the practice in the form realm is not an application, so from that, those do not arise. That which is called "as before" does not include the fruit of supernormal cognition. That which is called "the application arising from the practice in the form realm, and the afflictions, etc.," although it enters without manifestation, it is not contradictory in the mind of arising. That which is called "except for the application arising and the fruit of supernormal cognition," because there is no death for those who abide in that. Similarly, it should also be said that it is for those who practice in the formless realm. That which is called "the four in the form realm" is at the time of connecting the self. That which is called "except for the application arising and the fruit of supernormal cognition, etc.," because they enter with little power and without manifestation, the application arising does not arise in the aftermath of those, and the application arising from the practice in the form realm.
