If one acts upon a fruit that is being produced, how can one act upon a fruit that is being produced when there is no ripened fruit at the end for the cause of ripening? Here, the word "action" refers to ability. Even if the cause is interrupted by many eons and ceases, it is only by its power that it can produce its fruit, so the word "action" is used to refer to it. The immediately preceding condition acts upon arising in order to guide and distinguish the situation. The objective condition acts upon cessation because the minds and mental factors of the present hold objects. In this way, the objective condition is established by the meaning of holding, but the minds and mental factors of the past and future do not hold the objects to be held. In "the dominant condition," etc., the "action" here is the nature of non-obscuration, because it has no difference between arising and ceasing, so it is said to act in all situations. In "minds and mental factors arise from four," the word "are" means that minds and mental factors arise only from four conditions, and this must be understood with certainty. They arise from the cause, the immediately preceding condition, the objective condition, and the dominant condition, but not from one, two, or three conditions. Others say, "The word 'are' is to indicate the cause, because whatever is mind and mental factors arises from four conditions, and the objective condition does not act on other things." To this, 'the causal condition of these,' etc., will be explained in detail. The five causes are not all the causes of everything, so what are they? They are as appropriate. What is the cause of what, etc., has already been explained in detail in 'afflictions and ripened births, the rest,' etc. "The previous" is to clarify the later born. If so, then those interrupted by other things should also be, so it is said "those interrupted by other things" and combined with "minds and mental factors." Their immediately preceding condition is their own.

It depends on distinguishing the occasion by the previously born kind, because it is born, so it is previous, and they are not interrupted by other things. The so-called "according to circumstances with these five objects" means that the objective conditions of the eye consciousness and so on with the corresponding companions are the five objects such as form in order. The consciousness of mind with the corresponding companions is all dharmas. The so-called "the dominant condition is only the efficient cause, therefore it is all dharmas except its own nature" has been explained. The so-called "entering samadhi with three, two" means that it must be clearly grasped that "only with three." For those without objective conditions, explaining the cause means that they are not acting as objects. If it is said that there are five kinds of causal conditions, then these two (referring to the ripening cause and the concurrent cause) are impossible, because they are virtuous, and not accompanying, and because of these two reasons, it is explained that "only the causal condition of that itself is two." The so-called "same ground" will appear, to this, the same ground of the cessation samadhi is the four virtuous aggregates of the peak of existence. The unconscious samadhi is the five earth virtuous aggregates of the fourth dhyana. The same is the immediate condition. The so-called "the mind of samadhi with the corresponding companions" refers to all the moments of cessation samadhi and all the moments of unconscious samadhi. The so-called "the dominant condition is the same as before" refers to all dharmas except its own nature. The so-called "because it is produced from the mental fabrication" means that mental fabrication is mental fabrication. What is that? It is the activity of the mind, and what is produced from that is produced from the mental fabrication. Its entity is itself produced from the mental fabrication, because it is itself produced from the mental fabrication, even if they are included by non-corresponding formations, it is the same immediate condition of the mind of samadhi.
