That is, mind and mental events arise. Therefore, in order to know that all dharmas including the subsequent ones are the immediately preceding condition by clarifying the last, it is said that it is not the last. The so-called "those who have arisen" is to encompass the past and the present by clarifying the future. This condition is both equal and immediate, therefore, the so-called "mind and mental events alone possess the meaning of immediately preceding" means that only mind and mental events possess the meaning of immediately preceding, while others do not, so mind and mental events alone are the immediately preceding condition, this is the explanation. The so-called "equal" means that in the same continuum, the two are of the same nature and will not exist simultaneously. The so-called "immediate" means that they are of the same nature and have the result of being without interruption. Therefore, the so-called "because of the arising of inequality, form is not the immediately preceding condition" is because it does not possess the meaning of immediately preceding, so form is not the immediately preceding condition. In order to clarify that it does not possess the meaning of immediately preceding, it is widely said "practicing in the desire realm." Practicing in the desire realm refers to the non-revealing form of the Pratimoksha vows. Practicing in the form realm refers to the form of the dhyana vows. The unpolluted refers to the form of the unpolluted vows. When one takes vows and does not enter dhyana or the path, at that time, only the practice of the desire realm arises from the non-revealing form of the practice of the desire realm. When one enters samadhi, then the non-revealing forms of the practice of the desire realm and the practice of the form realm arise. When one enters the path, then the practice of the desire realm and the unpolluted arise, so the manifestation of form is confused. The so-called "the immediately preceding condition is not confused" means that the continuation of the mind and mental events of the practice of the desire realm will never give rise to the practice of the desire realm, the practice of the form realm, and the unpolluted. Venerable Dehui said that the so-called "arising from growth" means arising from growth. Such as growing with food and meditation, etc.
