Thus it is extensively spoken. This does not have the six kinds of causes, and this also does not have a result, because it is unconditioned and because it contradicts arising. Here, the characteristics of cause and effect that are incompatible should be extensively explained. Among them, the acting cause is also impossible, because if it is established as the nature of not obstructing what is arising, then the unconditioned does not have arising. Because what possesses arising are mutually cause and effect, the co-emergent cause is also impossible. Because the unconditioned does not possess arising, and there is no prior arising, the cause of equal share is also impossible. Because it is not the nature of mind and mental factors, the associated cause is also non-existent. Because it is not something to be abandoned by seeing suffering and so on, the universal cause is also non-existent. The ripening cause is also impossible in this, because it is not possessed and because it is permanent. Furthermore, ripening is unspecified, and separation is virtuous, so this does not have a ripening cause. Thus, because the six kinds of causes are impossible, the unconditioned is not a result. It also shows that because the five kinds of results are impossible, the unconditioned has no result. Thus, the dominant result is impossible for the unconditioned. The dominant result is: the conditioned that is not previously arisen is the dominant result of the conditioned alone. Thus, if it is asserted to be co-emergent and subsequent, then it is not something that possesses arising. The result similar to the cause is also impossible. The similar cause is similar to the cause. If it is said thus, the unconditioned is also not something that possesses arising. For that very reason, the result of a person's action is also impossible, because the unconditioned does not possess arising, and therefore there is no effort of a person. The ripening result is also not appropriate here, because the ripening result is to be produced by non-virtue and virtue with outflows. Because it is not the nature of the path, the separation result is also impossible here, because it is the result of the uninterrupted paths. Furthermore, holding the result for those liberated from time

I have no power to give, therefore there is no fruit. As it is said: The five now hold the fruit. Like this, it is extensively explained. Why is the path extensively explained? That is because some people think that the path is merely separate from the action of things. This is a questioning thought. Like this, that is called the nature that does not hinder production. For what is being produced, what exists as the nature that does not hinder production, that is the cause of its action. The unconditioned is not endowed with production, therefore, the path is not the cause of this action. The conditioned together with separation is the fruit. Here, separation is called the nature of the fruit, therefore now it is said: Whose is that? If the path is not considered the cause of this action, or not considered its cause, then how can it be the fruit? Whose fruit is that? To what is said, the answer is: It is the fruit of the path. Again, how can it be the fruit? To this question, the answer is: Because it is obtained through its power. Because the unconditioned is obtained through the power of the path, therefore the unconditioned is the fruit of the path. In this way, the path itself is not the cause of action. Then, because it arises through the power of the path, merely obtaining the path itself has power, so merely obtaining is the fruit of the path, but separation is not the fruit of the path, because it has no power. Therefore, the path has no action on Nirvana, therefore it is not the fruit. In order to show that through all self-nature, not the fruit itself is extinguished, Nirvana also has power, so it is extensively explained that obtaining also has other powers. For obtaining, it is the author himself who has power, because it is the cause of equal share, like the sprout for the seed. For separation, it is the obtainer himself who has power, without the path, separation cannot be obtained. Therefore, temporarily it is extensively explained that the causes are the reasons for the arising of things, therefore the path is in no way the cause of separation, but separation is its fruit. Also, Nirvana is the cause without cause.
